Germany - After a two-year hiatus, it was indeed a momentous day for the international electronic dance music community as the Berlin Loveparade finally rolled back into action on 15 July.

Taking place from 2pm until 11pm with a 2006 motto of 'The Love Is Back', it was an epic homecoming for the legendary event: 40 floats rumbled through the streets as 400 DJs from 18 different nations represented the rich diversity of the international electronic music scene. There were also 11 fixed stages to entertain the masses with the final rally taking place from 6pm on the two main stages located to the east and west sides of the Siegessäule where 15 DJs, including Paul van Dyk, Ricardo Villalobos, Tiësto, and Westbam rocked the crowd well into the night. UK - Leading Welsh rental company Stage Sound Services has been putting its new DiGiCo D1 Live console through its paces with a series of demanding productions. Following hot on the heels of the Holocaust Memorial Day event at Cardiff's principal venue, the Wales Millennium Centre, Stage Sound Services provided sound production for the premiere of the amateur production of The Witches of Eastwick, staged by the Orbit Theatre at The New Theatre in Cardiff.

Taking a break from running the company, Stage Sound Services' founder Phil Hurley took on the job of sound operator for the show. He commented on the new acquisition, which was supplied through Autograph Sales in London. "We love the D1 for all sorts of reasons; it's small, it incorporates a lot of processing, it's easy to use, and sounds fantastic!"

Greece - Outline has announced a Butterfly 'outlinearray' installation at Athens' MOV, one of the Greek capital's most famous bouzouki bars. Recently inaugurated, the MOV hosts top Greek singers and artists (such as Stelios Rokkos and Zafiris Melas), who entertain the venue's select clientele with live performances.

The product range, from the French manufacturer, includes IP-addressable LCD panels, matrix switchers and scalers for the corporate boardroom and multimedia market, and are seen as "a perfect addition to the company's product portfolio".

The TA-500 is a trapezoidal three-way full-range unit which includes the company's patented Polyhorn technology first seen in the TA-890 touring and TA-880 trapezoidal cabinets. Built in 1966, de Doelen today operates as a foundation and is considered acoustically to be one of the world's finest modern concert halls. With the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra also resident, the pressure on head technicians Frank van Donkersgoed and Bram Ruitenbeek to remain sensitive to the building parameters while specifying the system that would best meet the requirements of an expanding programme, was paramount.

UK - As the summer music festival season reaches its peak, PA company Britannia Row Productions is right in the middle of a hectic schedule of arena tours and concerts that are taking place around the UK. And at every venue, one part of the equipment specification remains a constant - Van Damme cable, supplied by cable specialist VDC Trading.

Spain - Over 50,000 people showed up for Spain's most important electronic festival, which is held each year in the Monegros Desert. The 11th edition of the outdoor event was held in Fraga, Huesca in one of the most arid regions of northern Spain.

D.A.S. Audio was present at the event once again, via Lerida-based Montajes y Sonido Güell, which was responsible for providing sound for the main stage, called the 'Open Air'. The company installed more than 80,000W of sound consisting of 32 Reference series R-215 and 28 ST-218s for FOH.

The 'Open Air' is the star of the event, with a large outdoor stage and a dancefloor larger than a football field, surrounded by two high-capacity bars. The music program gets its inspiration from the famous club Florida 135, alma mater of the festival.

UK - Over five days in mid June, the O2 Wireless Festival sprawled across Hyde Park with headline acts including David Gray and Depeche Mode on the main stage. Super Furry Animals, Fun Lovin' Criminals and Chic graced the XFM Stage where sound suppliers for the duration of the Park's summer events, Britannia Row, installed a Turbosound Aspect loudspeaker system.

A total of 14 TA-890H three-way mid/high enclosures, 18 TA-890L bass enclosures, eight TSW-218 18" horn-loaded bass cabinets and two TA-500HM controlled by XTA DP226 processors fulfilled the XFM Stage's sound requirements, along with two of the new TA-500 'Aspect Wide' wide dispersion three-way full range enclosures and four TSW-721s for side-fills. UK - The Cornbury Festival, now in its third year, has become one of the most successful of the 'new' festivals to emerge over the last few years. Set in the privately owned Cornbury Park, which nestles in the rolling Cotswold Hills north of Oxford, the site offers a wealth of unique features - notably the lack of noise pollution issues.

Held over the weekend of 7-10 July 2006, the festival is eccentric, charming and irresistible. The second stage at the festival was booked this year by The Truck Festival on the Saturday and on the Sunday by the Oxford Folk Festival. USA - dbx Professional Products, a Salt Lake City-based manufacturer of professional signal processing products and a division of Harman International, has announced that five of its premium DriveRack 4800 loudspeaker management processors have been selected to control a JBL sound system in one of London's premier cinemas.

The Empire Cinema in Leicester Square, which hosts many of the UK's film premiers, has undergone a much needed equipment upgrade following its takeover from UCI by the newly-formed Empire Cinemas Ltd. According to The Empire's marketing and development manager, Kevin Anderson, the investment has run "well into six figures".

Denmark - Since 1971, music fans have flocked to the Danish town of Roskilde to attend what has become one of the biggest annual music festivals in Europe. This year, just short of ninety thousand fans descended on the town to listen to one hundred and seventy bands from around the globe. Bands and artists such as the Arctic Monkeys, the Kaiser Chiefs, Bob Dylan, Morrisey along with new and up and coming artists performed over five days. The entire area for the festival covered around 1.25 million sq.m of ground.

The seven stages of varying sizes and audience capacity, were each devoted to a particular musical genre, such as Heavy Metal, Hip-Hop, Electronic and Rock to name a few. Each stage had its own sound system with three stages plus the 'Chill Out' area being equipped with d&b audiotechnik sound systems.

USA - The recently renovated and expanded worship sanctuary at Blackshear Baptist Church, located in Flowery Branch, Georgia, includes a new sound reinforcement system headed by Danley Sound Labs SH-50 and SH-100 full-range loudspeakers, along with the company's TH-112 subwoofers.

Blackshear Baptist is one of the fastest growing churches in the Atlanta area, with the expansion of the sanctuary from 1,000 seats to more than 1,700 reflecting this growth. Lakewood Church televises its broadcasts, reaching over 200 million households. Audio Analysts, the audio technology company for Lakewood, installed several AN-16i Input Modules and AN-16o Output Modules in addition to multiple Pro16 Personal Mixers for the worship team.
