Australia - Country superstar Keith Urban had the honour of being the first artist to headline the International Convention Centre Sydney's (ICC Sydney) entertainment theatre.

Although the venue is equipped with a d&b audiotechnik PA system, Keith is a long time Clair account and so JPJ Audio provided their new Clair Cohesion PA system, purchased just in time for Keith's Australian Ripcord Tour.

Seamless integration within the Cohesion Series, assures uniform coverage in multiple venues regardless of acoustic challenges or sightlines. The Series provides higher output, reference quality sound within a smaller footprint; in truck space and in the air.

Keith's FOH engineer Kirk Kelsey has mixed for a wide variety of acts including Live, Creed, Three Doors Down, and The Smashing Pumpkins. He readily admits that he has been blown away by the Cohesion Series.

UK - Elaine Paige has just completed her sold-out Stripped Back" UK tour to rapturous reviews. Fans were treated to an intimate experience with just a five-piece band, a microphone and her. Delta Sound supplied all the audio equipment for the tour (stage, control, monitor FoH and PA systems) including a substantial HALO-C system of up to 33 boxes depending on the venue.

According to Delta's Stephen Hughes who managed the equipment supply, a main PA system wasn't initially specified on the tour. However, it quickly became apparent that the house systems were woefully inadequate for Elaine, and so Delta recommended a HALO-C system from EM Acoustics as the best solution.

Forever Young - Petula Clark will make her UK festival debut at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival on Friday 11 August. "We're really proud to be the first British festival that Petula has played," says Fairport bassist and Cropredy co-organiser Dave Pegg. "I saw her show in Birmingham recently and it blew me away - she is a wonderful live performer. I was surprised how many of her hits I knew and her contemporary songs are really great too. Our audience will love her, I'm sure."

Also lined up for the Oxfordshire event is The Trevor Horn Band. The producer will front a 14-piece all-star band featuring fellow producers Steve Lipson and Lol Creme. The setlist will be packed with songs the trio have produced - between them they've had over 200 hit singles - and there may be guest appearances from some of the musicians they have worked with.

USA - Nashville-based mobile production specialist TNDV recently gave back to its community on a project that hit close to home, delivering turnkey production services for country music superstar Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountains Rise telethon to aid families affected by the Great Smoky Mountain wildfires that began in late November. Working within an extraordinarily short timeline, TNDV provided production and uplink trucks, equipment, crews and expertise while managing all key video, audio and lighting elements for the live television event.

The fires in Tennessee's Sevier County burned over 17,000 acres, claimed 14 lives, and damaged or destroyed more than 2,000 homes and businesses. Norway - Zenitel, an international leader in critical communication solutions, have delivered safety communications and entertainment equipment as part of Norway's largest ferry contract.

In 2014, Bast° Fosen won the contract to continue to operate Norway's busiest inland ferry route, between Moss and Horten, until 2026. As part of the agreement, three new ferries were built to serve this vital transport route. Zenitel has delivered communication and entertainment systems to all of the new vessels.

The inland ferry link also forms part of the national road network, Riksvei 19, acting as a highway across the Oslo fjord. In 2013 over 1.3m vehicles and 1.6 million foot passengers used the ferry service. Many of Zenitel's own employees use the ferry as part of their daily commute to the company's operational head office in Horten.

UK - Located in the centre of Southampton, Switch is a 1,200-capacity nightclub that has grown from a musical nucleus into a state-of-the-art, after dark venue. It is home to a Funktion-One loudspeaker system from Audio Feed, which has been projection mapped for added visual appeal.

Switch is the brainchild of Gary Bennetton, Richard Gilbert, Ryan Keary and Peter Toland. Each of them brings something different to the party but they are connected by a shared passion for good music, as Bennetton explains, "We had seen the music scene in Southampton evolving over a number of years and had been trying to cater for a more production and music-led audience by hosting a number of warehouse parties in the city.

Nigeria - For the fourth year running, Cytech World Communication provided an Outline sound system for The Experience, with production and control services supplied by Subfrantic Production Services Ltd. The event, held in Lagos' Tafawa-Balewa Square and organised by The House on the Rock Church, is considered the world's largest gospel concert and attracted a crowd of 700,000.

The last edition featured an array of music ministers including Don Moen, Donnie McClurkin, Frank Edwards, Smokie Norful, Travis Greene, Chioma Jesus, Tope Alabi, and the Lagos Metropolitan Gospel Choir of House on The Rock amongst others.

The Experience's FOH audio set-up comprised 30 GTO C-12 line-source systems plus two underhung GTO-DF (down-fill) modules, while 16 DBS 18-2, eight Subtech 218 and four LAB 21 HS subwoofers ensured the low and infra-low frequencies power and precision.

Built in the 1680s, it was the home of the Hustler family for 200 years, before becoming a boys' school in the 1930s, and has only recently been restored to its former glory to become a luxury restaurant, conference centre and wedding venue.

When it was decided to introduce audio into all the public areas, the venue approached Bose Pro Partner, Riverside Leisure Promotions to design and install a high quality background and foreground sound system for conferencing, weddings and fine dining. UK - Anthony Cherry, producer of Friday Night is Music Night, aired on BBC Radio 2, undertook the ambitious project of recreating Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol on stage at the Royal Festival Hall in December. Mark Gatiss, as Narrator and Scrooge, led a company of star actors and the concert included six scenes from the Dickens classic. DiGiCo SD7s were deployed at Front of House and monitor positions for this ambitious production.

The show's musical score featured Christmas favourites from Katie Melua and Shaun Escoffery, together with the West End stars John Owen Jones, Rosalie Craig, Louise Dearman plus the 24 voices of the Gori Women's Choir, 12 Capital Voices and the 70-piece BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Richard Balcombe.

UK - SSE Audio celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the company by staging a party on Saturday 21 January, with live performances from Stomp and UB40.

In a 17-hour window, SSE managed to turn Fly by Nite's cavernous 18,000sq.ft rehearsal studio into the ultimate party venue, complete with two stages, two bars, seven food outlets and a raised guest area.

SSE director and party production manager Spencer Beard explained, "The studio was booked out for rehearsals for an arena tour on the Thursday and Friday; we only had access from 1am on the day of the party. Thanks to the efforts of everyone involved who pulled out all the stops, everything was ready to go by 6pm on Saturday."

UK - England Golf, the governing body for amateur golf in England, has invested in several portable wireless PA systems from MIPRO in readiness for the coming season.

The equipment will be used to announce players as they arrive at the tee as well as for pre- and post-event speeches and presentations. The systems may be used as self-contained, stand-alone systems or in conjunction with each other if broader coverage is required.
