Commenting on the S-Digital development, Peter H McGuire, operations manager, Cadac Holdings, stated: "From its conception the S-Digital was engineered with the express intention of replicating the audio quality and extending the functionality of the Cadac J-Type, which became the de-facto console for musical theatre following its launch in 1992. The S-Digital has been designed in conjunction with practising sound engineers

Germany - e:cue lighting control - An Osram company, has introduced DMX2CC dimmers "for smooth and flicker-free dimming of high power LEDs". Using continuous current dimming method, DMX2CC dimmers enable control of 1W and 3W LEDs via a DMX control unit.

Available in six-channel and 12-channel versions, these devices feature a self-diagnostic test function preventing damages to the unit and LEDs caused by incorrect wiring, open or short circuit, and overheating.

A DMX out-port repeats and amplifies the DMX signal for convenient daisy chaining in projects where one DMX input signal must be distributed among several of these devices. DMX2CC is easily set up with auto and manual DMX addressing modes, and conveniently mountable inside equipment racks using standardized 35mm wide DIN rail.

Germany - Yamaha's new M7CL-48ES digital console, MY8-SDI-ED interface card and versatile TLF loudspeaker technology will be showcased at Prolight&Sound this month.

The latest M7CL replaces the 48 internal mic pre-amps with two EtherSound ports, keeping the MY card slots free for other uses such as multitrack recording, the Dante communication protocol or the use of Waves effects plug ins. A third port also allows permanent connection of the console to a computer while using EtherSound in 'ring' mode.

To make setup quick and easy, the M7CL-48ES auto-configures its connection to the Yamaha SB168-ES stage box and it features the updated V3 software, recently introduced for all M7CL consoles.

Another new product on show at Frankfurt is the MY8-SDI-ED interface card, which offers from eight to 64 I/O channels (depending on the console and number of cards used) of HD-SDI embedded

Germany - Elation Professional has announced the lineup of lighting fixtures it will exhibit at ProLight&Sound in Frankfurt this month. One definite trend that's emerged: the company is addressing the growing demand for fixtures that are more streamlined and energy-efficient, yet deliver output comparable or superior to larger, power-thirsty units of the past.

Among the fixtures Elation will be displaying at PLS are the Design Spot LED, E Spot LED and Platinum Spot 5R -- the first two powered by LED light sources, and the third featuring Philips MSD Platinum 5R Lamp Technology. "All three of these products represent exciting technological breakthroughs. They provide the power and brightness typically associated with a much larger fixture in an amazingly small and energy-efficient package," said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional.

USA - The newest addition to the Wybron family, the Cygnus 200W Wash, is now in production. Recently, Wybron's Colorado Springs facility put together an order of 12 white Cygnus units, a special request for Fordham University, who ordered them through PRG New Jersey.

Cygnus, one of the only LED luminaires on the market to employ an integrated RGBW quad die, greatly eliminates rainbow shadows caused by other LED lights. It also employs in-lens colour-mixing, meaning that the colour seen on the fixture is the same seen on the stage.

"We've finally achieved output levels and color rendering quality that allow LED fixtures to become something more than a novel wall wash," says Wybron director of technologies John Sondericker III.

Before they are shipped, each Cygnus is individually colour calibrated using an advanced proprietary process.

The Netherlands - Projecta has announced the expansion of the company's Descender Electrol ceiling recessed motorised screen range to include a tab-tensioned version which was officially launched at ISE 2010 in Amsterdam.

The Tensioned Descender Electrol ensures the flattest possible viewing surface for a retractable screen thanks to its tab-tensioning system, says the company. The projection screen surface is tensioned in all four directions by a teardrop shaped aluminium extruded slat bar and nylon tensioning cables on each side to match with the parabolic curves of the screen. The end result is a projection viewing area that is evenly tensioned and suitable for all critical viewing projection.

The Tensioned Descender is available as either a standard 220v configuration or with a radio frequency controlled motor with Projecta's proprietary front projection screen surfaces.

Germany / Spain - VMB has released the new ARK series of processors, replacing the Arkeops and DAC range which will debut at ProLight+Sound this month. The ARK-70 and ARK-20 are the latest in the series of digital processors designed, assembled and manufactured by VMB, offering seven different models with two or four inputs each and with up to eight outputs (analogue or digital and Ethersound optional).

Double Dynamics are standard in all ARK-70 models. An RMS limiter is used to adjust the transducer reproduction level, maintaining the original dynamics whilst at the same time respecting the original transients and achieving a better acoustical result. A peak limiter controls the movement of the speaker, protecting it from any damage and also reducing distortion caused by over-excursion. These double dynamics lower levels of distortion and provide protection for all the speaker

UK - In response to customer demand plus changes to UK electrical requirements, ETC has released versions of its Sensor dimmer modules fitted with six and 10 Amp MCBs (miniature circuit breakers) which allows Sensor dimming to be installed in many venues which could not previously accommodate higher rated Sensor standard modules.

The new 6A and 10A breakers can be used to limit loads to 1.3kW and 2.3kW respectively. The UK IEEE 17th Edition Wiring Requirements (BS7671:2009) lowered the permissible wiring distance from the dimmer rack to the socket outlet for standard wire gauges by up to 25% of 16th Edition values. Previously some venues would have had to completely rewire in order to take advantage of Sensor dimming, but the new lower amperage breakers mean that Sensor can be installed in many more buildings.

Mark White, ETC's regional manager for UK and Ireland, says, "

Canada - Daniels Electronics and Telex Radio Dispatch have jointly announced the development of a P25 standards-compliant Digital Fixed Station Interface (DFSI) between their products, enabling direct digital connection from the Daniels LMR radio to Telex dispatch consoles, in accordance with the TIA P25 Fixed Station Interface (FSI) standard.

The Daniels digital Universal Interface card (UIC) provides the P25 DFSI connection via Ethernet from the Daniels MT-4 P25 radio system to other LMR subsystems, such as IP-based dispatch consoles in a P25 network. In accordance with the TIA P25 general system model, this interface interconnects the fixed station (Daniels Radio) to a console or RF subsystem at the Ef connection. The Ethernet universal interface provides the P25 encoded (and optionally encrypted) digital audio signal directly to the console, as well as a comprehensive suite

USA - American DJ has upgraded its popular P64 LED par can. The company has added master/slave capabilities to this RGB-mixing LED par can with the introduction of the upgraded P64 LED Plus.
