Germany - Germany-based manufacturer axxent will introduce a new one-channel, 400W amplifier in a 2U, 19" chassis at the forthcoming ProLight&Sound exhibition in Frankfurt (12-15 March 2008).

The amplifier features a low impedance output, as well as 50/70/100V constant voltage outputs. The outputs may be used simultaneously as long as the total of 400W loudspeaker load is not exceeded, say the company.

Under normal working conditions, the amplifier operates quietly, benefiting from its passive convection cooling. When the maximum performance is required and its passive cooling ribs exceed a given temperature, a quiet and controlled fan aids the cooling system. This feature makes the AX-1400T power amplifier an ideal choice for churches and other noise-sensitive applications.

Germany - Kling & Freitag will present three new products at ProLight & Sound 2008. After extensive research, K&F reports that it has developed a line array that "unifies - without compromises - aspects of modern line array technologies into a premium quality full-range system". Every element is equipped with two 10" chassis and a tweeter unit with three 1" neodymium drivers.

Two versions of the vertical 7° coverage system - with 77° and 100° horizontal coverage - will be offered; they are combinable with one another, depending on use.

Kling & Freitag will also introduce the smallest speaker in their product range. The passive two-way speaker is equipped with a 5" bass chassis and a 1" dome driver with a coupled 'Waveguide'. With its uniform and wide coverage, the system is ideally suited for near field applications, says the company.<

USA - Philips Solid-State Lighting Solutions, the new entity formed by Philips' acquisition of Color Kinetics, is continuing to expand its EssentialWhite series with the launch of two new LED luminaires for common interior applications. The luminaires will debut at the ARC Show, 11-13 February, at the Business Design Centre in London, UK (stand M20).

The EssentialWhite series is designed to deliver the inherent advantages of LED sources for common white light applications that don't require sophisticated control systems. Germany - ChainMaster will be releasing a new catalogue at the ProLight & Sound 2008 trade fair. Entitled Stage & Studio Equipment 2008, the new brochure contains, among other things, new items of equipment such as, in the area of computerised controllers, the XYZ controller (previously undocumented in the catalogue) and, among chain hoists conforming to the BGV-D8 code of practice, a number of new models.

Germany - Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Alcons Audio will be present at the ProLight + Sound show with a number of new pro-ribbon products.

Additions to the successful Q-series pro-ribbon line-source columns, as recently installed in a number of famous German theatres, will be shown. With the similar front shape of the QR36 and QM36, the pro-ribbon-loaded QR6 addition is further extending the intelligibility problem-solving power of this product concept, says the company.

Germany - Nexo will be showcasing its latest compact tangent-array SR systems for touring applications and fixed installation, notably the Geo S12 Series and Geo D with Geo SUB, as well as its internationally-established PS Series. Germany - Danish manufacturer DPA Microphones will be co-exhibiting with its German distributor, Mega-Audio at Prolight & Sound 2008.

On the stand, musicians Benjamin Koppel and Jens Haack will be performing on a small stage, miked with DPA 4023 compact cardioid mics mounted on FGS4000 flamingo stands.

A listening post on the stand will present the company's new SACD, Miking A Grand Piano, recorded in the DPA in-house studio. The SACD presents a number of stereo comparison and demonstration recordings of a grand piano using different combinations of DPA mics.

Germany - The new Electro-Voice SB2A powered 12-inch subwoofer eliminates the need for external system processing and amplification, addressing the demand for lightweight high performance portable sound systems, says the company.

Featuring dual 350W amplifiers, the SB2A's switch-able powered speaker output can drive either an external 8 ohm passive subwoofer or full range loudspeaker. It can be configured with a variety of loudspeakers for a multitude of sound reinforcement applications.

The SB2A shares the same injection-moulded enclosure as EV's passive SB122 subwoofer. Both utilize the EVS12S woofer, designed from the ground up for optimized performance within this small footprint enclosure.

A 110in, full 1080p HD resolution display was given its debut at last month's ISE Show in Amsterdam - making it the largest HD display on sale in the world, says the company.

Germany - At the Live Sound Forum, the Messe Frankfurt open air presentation area, K.M.E. is going to present the line array PANO "under conditions close to reality". The presentations take place daily. During the 20 minute demonstration the system will be presented by different styles of music and detailed information and explanations. The PANO setup consists of 12 tops QL 906 and four cardioid subs QCB 318 each side, amplified by four SR 7100 racks and adjusted to a defined area.

Germany - At ProLight & Sound 2008 beyerdynamic will premiere its top-of-the line vocal microphone TG-X 930. Using the capsule of the MC 930 true condenser microphone as a basis, beyerdynamic developed a vocal microphone with the TG-X 930.

Due to the typically small pick-up distance with vocal microphones, the proximity effect of the cardioid capsule was compensated to achieve absolutely neutral transmission of even the subtlest vocal nuances. A slight treble boost ensures an open and detailed sound without ever being obtrusive, says the company.

The stainless steel basket with multilayer gauze and additional inner basket, already used in the interchangeable microphone capsules of the Opus 900 wireless series, provides protection against pop sounds. It is easy to clean and significantly improves rear-attenuation and hence feedback suppression.

The Netherlands - DMi D&M Installation, the dedicated CI division of D&M Europe, won the EMEA + InAVation Award for 'Most InAVative Audio Product for Residential Use (Non Loudspeaker)'. The award was received for the Escient Fireball FP-1 Music Manager with Universal iPod Dock, at the AV industry event held in Amsterdam on the evening before the opening of ISEurope.

The FireBall FP-1 integrates the iPod within a digital media network, enabling streaming and control of music from and between the iPod and other media storage and playout devices. Sweden - RC4 Wireless, a Toronto-based manufacturer of wireless low voltage dimming systems and DMX distribution, have launched a new W-DMX enabled product line called W-DIM. The W-DIM products bring W-DMX connectivity to a complete system for low voltage battery operated lighting, motors, and more, say the companies.

The first W-DIM for W-DMX product will operate from 6V to 30VDC and provide four outputs of 200W each in a small and compact package. W-DIM uses a high-efficiency switching power supply and high-frequency PWM dimming resulting in minimal heat and power loss. Dimmer outputs feature thermal and overload protection and under most fault conditions individual dimmers will disable themselves until the problem is corrected.

UK - The Soundcraft Vi Series will now support multiple stageboxes. This means that a digital patchbay can be created, where the engineer can select the 64 inputs to a Soundcraft Vi6 (or 48 on the Soundcraft Vi4) from a selection of inputs available on any of the connected stageboxes. So, for example, with two stageboxes connected there are 128 inputs to select from, with three there would be 172 and so on.

The Vi Series stagebox is the main input/output interface for the system, with up to 64 mic/line inputs and 32 line outputs available, or AES/EBU digital cards can take the place of mic/line I/Os.

The Vi Offline Editor software, Virtual Vi, will be downloadable free from the company's website from March, and can be run standalone in any location, and the file transferred at any time. All routing, naming, EQ and dynamic settings and so on can be pre-configured offline.

Germany - The EVI Audio team will be presenting an array of new products at ProLight&Sound 2008, including the Dynacord D-Lite 1000, D8, PowerSub 312, D12A and D12-3A, along with Electro-Voice's DC-One and ZX3, and the new DN9696 splitter from Klark Teknik.

As well as the new products, there will be "a generous helping of entertainment, a prize draw and live music in the Agora marquee and at the EVI stand itself.

The Agora Marquee is run jointly by the Musikmesse Frankfurt and EVI Audio, and has established a reputation as a live venue of class over the course of the last few years. Germany- Allen & Heath will unveil two new additions to the ZED range of small-format USB mixers for live performance, recording and production at ProLight&Sound. The ZED-12FX (6 mono + 3 dual stereo channels) and ZED-22FX (16 mono + 3 dual stereo channels) retain the same professional feature set as other models in the range with the addition of a comprehensive section of in-house designed effects.

ZED's effects are divided into four types: tap tempo delays, short reverbs, long reverbs and modulation. They are controlled by three buttons for easy navigation and editing, allowing the parameters of each effect to be quickly 'dialled-in' to, for instance, pinpoint the ideal delay time or amount of reverb.
