USA - Tomcat and JTE racked up another successful show at LDI that not only featured their current line of products, but also the products they had each manufactured over the years that allowed them to experience the success they both enjoy today.
The walk-through time was to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tomcat and the 40th anniversary of James Thomas Engineering in truss manufacturing, but the main thrust of the show was to highlight their current line of truss products and new innovations.
This year’s LDI show was also the introduction of Carmen Savarese as the new sales & marketing director for the Tomcat and JTE teams.

USA - Rational Acoustics has announced the release of the second major version update for the Smaart v8 measurement platform - Smaart v8.2. This free update includes significant feature additions, interface modifications and bug fixes and is recommended for all Smaart v8 users.

UK - Allen & Heath has announced the latest firmware update for its GLD digital mixer range, adding a FX unit as well as microphone presets.
Included in GLD V1.6 is the Dimension Chorus FX unit. Inspired by a classic chorus based on bucket-brigade technology, Dimension Chorus offers varying degrees of density from subtle special effects through to heavier modulation.
Also new to GLD in V1.6 are the company’s ProFactory mic presets created in collaboration with Shure, Sennheiser and Audio Technica. ProFactory mic presets are designed to give engineers a fast track starting point when working with a variety of widely used microphones.
Other enhancements in V1.6 include a post-fade option for the Automatic Mic Mixer and a 50Hz noise on/off switch for the Space Echo FX Unit.

Germany - Laserworld has released version 6 of the Laserworld Showeditor professional laser control software. Several new features have been added and many other improvements have been made, says the company.
The Live window has become easier to use for beginners, as it automatically loads the default show, which can be customised and recalled any time. Several faders have been added to control master intensity, master speed and colour shift effects from the live interface or also external fader consoles (MIDI/DMX).
The Timeline programming window has been extended with pre-set fade effects to ease and speed up laser show programming with the Laserworld Showeditor.

USA - City Theatrical’s DMXcat Multi Function Test Tool is now available in seven languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and English. DMXcat was translated in partnership with multilingual lighting professionals to ensure that technical and industry terms were captured appropriately in every offered language.

The Netherlands - Nexo will be presenting a line-up of pro loudspeakers at ISE 2018, with the French manufacturer also set to display new series of bespoke loudspeakers stands and mounts designed by Showem.
Nexo’s all-white display will feature the compact ID Series, including the ID24 full-range speaker. It uses twin 4” drivers in a V formation in combination with an HF compression driver and has an adjustable horn that rotates easily by a switch on the rear panel, giving 60 or 120 degree HF coverage. As the ID24 can be mounted vertically or horizontally, this effectively gives the user four different directivity options in each cabinet.

UK - Martin Audio has announced the availability of GLL loudspeaker measurement data compatible with EASE Focus 3 for many of its point source loudspeakers.
EASE Focus 3 from AFMG Technologies is an acoustic simulation programme for 3D modelling that enables the user to define audience areas, section views, and receiver locations flexibly, while calculating sound coverage and frequency response immediately.

Japan - Martin Audio Japan (MAJ) recently took part in the Inter BEE exhibition at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, launching their premier WPC line array, along with iKON iK42 4-channel power amp and SX218 dual driver subs. The expo, which started in 1960, has increased exhibitors and visitors year-on-year, and this year visitors numbered 40,000 in total, with 1,000 companies taking part.
This time around, MAJ expanded on last year’s booth size, and presented WPC at the SR Line Array Speaker Demo, giving visitors first-hand experience. MAJ also welcomed from the UK Dom Harter, MD of Martin Audio, introducing him to the Japanese market at the same time.
