The Netherlands - DMX control specialist ELC Lighting has launched the DLN8GBXSL eight-port slave node, a new concept designed “to revolutionise ethernet/DMX network distribution”.
The DLN8GBXSL serves as a substitute for a DMX splitter rack, where all DMX ports are fully programmable as output, input, merge, backup and more, as node ports. This slave node forms part of the ELC GBX Distribution System, of which the dmXLAN switch (GBx10 or GBx18) is the backbone. This switch is the master, and up to 15 slave units can be daisy chained via the ethernet ports. The system supports all open protocols including sACN, Art-Net and ShowNET.

France - Airstar has launched NEO, the latest addition to the French manufacturer's inflatable lighting range dedicated to event staging.
The tube-shaped product measures 5m x 20cm and offers 8,500 lumens of brightness. The tubes can be either installed on the ground or mounted and are suitable for events and music festivals or as a part of a creative set.
Jean-Pierre David, an industrial designer at Airstar, who designed the product, explains: "It may sound odd, but the NEO concept could be described as a genesis of the Jedi lightsaber and my grandmother's kitchen neon. Although relatively simple, it is truly unique in the marketplace: it creates extravagant and creative lighting effects. Event professionals can let their imaginations run free with the help of this fun and easy to use solution."

USA - ADJ has announced the release of its new myDMX-RM lighting control interface. The tool offers internal storage with 16 programmable trigger buttons in addition to its function as a hardware dongle for the myDMX 3.0 software.
The myDMX-RM is a 19” rack mountable interface that connects a computer running the myDMX 3.0 software via USB to a DMX-controllable lighting rig through a standard XLR connection. Out of the box, the unit allows use of myDMX 3.0 Express Mode, which includes all of the standard features needed to setup, programme and control a lightshow. It is then possible to upgrade the software (via store.dmxsoft.com) to unlock advanced features such as a 3D Visualizer, MIDI control and ‘Easy Remote’ smartphone / tablet control app).
Through the software it is also possible to assign lighting programmes to each of the myDMX-RM’s 16 trigger buttons

Canada - CAST Software has released a new version of its wysiwyg lighting design and previsualisation tool. Release 41 brings a broad range of new features, including scaling objects, section sets, NDITM support, enhanced rigging points and realistic smoke and light effects.
CAST has also announced it’s working on a cloud and student licencing option and support for 64-bit architecture.
Scaling Objects: users are now able to easily scale up, down or stretch any 3D object within wysiwyg. The Scale tool can be applied to a primitive shape, an object from wysiwyg’s library (except truss and fixtures) or objects imported from other applications.

Europe - Litec is increasing its range of Flyintowers to nine in total with the release of four new towers this year.
The company has introduced the first two of these - the FTH40 and FTH52. The FTH40 allows 1,600kg of your audio equipment to be supported up to 10m, while the FTH52 Flyintower supports a total load of 1,400kg up to 13m.
Both towers are designed for lifting loads with an electric chain hoist or manual winch, but more importantly, feature all straight sections made from standard truss, rather than truss that’s custom made.

UK - Following considerable investment in design and engineering, Cloud Electronics has announced the availability of its 70/100V multichannel DSP amplifier with Energy Star certification, making the CV range one of the most advanced constant voltage amplifier designs on the market.
The first mass production batch of the eight-channel variant (CV8125) was shipped from Sheffield last week, while the two-channel (CV2500) and four-channel (CV4250) versions will be shipping in the next four weeks as production starts to ramp-up.
Cloud Electronics says the six-channel version (CV6160) has been ‘intentionally sidelined’ as it’s not clear at this point if there is any reasonable demand for the variant, since the eight-channel variant’s power sharing feature replicates this model.

USA - Elation Professional has presented eCast, a stage lighting control app designed for use at small to medium-sized venues such as night clubs, houses of worship or mobile events. The app is available from the Apple App Store only and is free, but requires the Elation 4Cast DMX Bridge (pictured) as the interface between lighting fixtures and an iOS device (iOS 9.3 or later).
Elation eCast works with any Art-Net or sACN node and can control up to 576 lighting fixtures and up to 12 DMX universes (6144 lighting channels). Features include an effects generator for movement, colour and flash effects; audio trigger and MIDI support is also included.
