Canada - Lighting industry veteran Todd Hucul has returned to Canada to assume the position of operations manager at Q1 Production Technologies' Vancouver facility. Todd began his career in the lighting industry at Westsun, first at its International head office in Winnipeg in the mid-80s, transferring in 1997 to Washington to serve as operations manager in Seattle before going on to set up the Las Vegas office. In 2002 Todd took a position as shop manager for VLPS in Los Angles.

Australia - New Zealand-based lighting manufacturer Selecon has appointed industry veteran Peter McKenzie as its new market manager for Australia. With the support of the Selecon factory team and the Australia wide dealer network, McKenzie will be working to maintain and improve customer service levels, reduce delivery schedules, and offer market specification and training including promoting Selecon products through all Australian theatre training facilities.

USA - Vari-Lite has appointed Julie Smith to oversee its customer service and technical support departments, in order to keep pace with increasing levels of business. In addition to her customer service duties, Smith will also oversee re-organization of the company's internal and external technical training program. Smith reports directly to Genlyte Controls' general manager, Steve Carson.

"My main goal is to improve customer response time," Smith said. "In the live entertainment industry, end users can't afford to sit around waiting for answers. Germany - EVI has announced that Frauke Jungbluth took over the position of export manager, Western Europe, for Dynacord. Jungbluth's previous experience includes eight years as a sales manager with another company in the pro audio sector. She gained her first experience of audio in 1986, when she worked as a marketing assistant for Electro-Voice.

EVI also announces that Christian Gress is taking over additional responsibilities. Having taken on the position of sales manager for Midas Venice at the beginning of last year, he will now take on the role of export sales manager, Western Europe, for both Electro-Voice and Midas Venice.

Croft started work in the stage lighting business in 1991 after graduating from Manchester University. After a couple of years' technical experience in the warehouse, he headed off on 'tour' for the next six years with Rolling Stones, Van Halen, M People and Take That, among others. Santomenna has over 20 years' experience in the industry, having worked on Broadway and staged events on five continents. Formerly production director at Celestion for 12 years, Elder left the loudspeaker manufacturer to form an OEM manufacturing facility serving the musical instrument industry. After a brief stint working as MD for a medical device manufacturer, Elder returned to the music business when he joined Peavey earlier this year. Having already demonstrated he can produce impressive results by doubling production output within six weeks of joining the company, Elder expects to see it grow again significantly during 2004.
