Lighting controls manufacturer Dynalite has expanded its London office support team in response to the rapid growth of UK business, and the recent appointment of new distributors in continental Europe. This has involved the creation of two new area management positions - Emmanual Moutsos and Tony Kinsey relocated to the UK in May to assume responsibility in these new positions.

After a number of years in the electrical technologies industry, Emmanuel Moutsos joined Dynalite in early 2000 as a sales engineer. UK expansion at ETC sees the appointment of project manager, Iain Quinn and field service engineer, Martin Savage. Taking over from David Gray following his relocation to Italy as field project manager, Iain Quinn has a wealth of experience in the industry - his most recent position was as project manager at Fisher Productions, with further experience including lighting design assistant for The Lion King at the Lyceum, senior lighting technician and maintenance coordinator at the Millennium Dome and second production electrician on the Return to the Forbidden Planet UK tour.

Based in ETC's West London office, Iain is currently working on large-scale project in Germany, dealing with logistics, ensuring all parts and products are delivered to specification and that the resulting systems operate effectively.

JBL Professional has named Martin Seidl as the company's new Director of European Sales. Seidl comes to JBL with a solid background in professional audio: after studying Sound Engineering at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria, Seidl went on to receive his MBA from the University of Minnesota and the Vienna University of Economics.

Seidl set up Crazy Sound Productions (CSP), which specialized in the management of performers and promotion activity for various shows in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Crown International has appointed Brian Divine to the position of marketing communications manager. Reporting to Mark Graham, Crown International vice president of marketing, Divine is now responsible for overseeing the manufacturer’s marketing budget, media placements, advertising and public relations agencies, trade show coordination, literature production and other related tasks. He is also being called upon to provide statistical forecasting for product sales as it pertains to the allocation of marketing funds.

Richard Mead has been named Flying Pig Systems product manager "for all things Pig," announced John Wiseman, vice-president of worldwide sales for High End Systems. Mead, who has a physics degree from Oxford University, has been with UK-based Flying Pig Systems for four years. During that time he was instrumental in the design and development of the Wholehog III lighting console, which is currently shipping in the marketplace. He was also a key code writer for the product.

Lighting industry veteran Todd Hucul has joined the staff at VLPS Los Angeles as shop manager. As a native of Winnipeg, Canada, Hucul began working for Westsun 13 years ago. When the company opened its first US office in Seattle, Hucul was there to serve as the operations manager. Later, he moved to Las Vegas, again to help set up the operation. "I specialize in streamlined, well-organized shops so technicians and clients can come in from anywhere and start functioning quickly and efficiently. I plan to apply that same technique to my new lighting shop, VLPS Los Angeles."

Unlike many lighting professionals who fall into the business, Hucul has always wanted to be where he is now. "Lighting is the only thing I’ve ever really wanted to do," he says. "It’s been my life-long dream to be part of the lighting industry and I take it very seriously."

Dent bring a wealth of experience in pro audio, having spent 18 years as sales and marketing director for Music Lab, followed by stints with Arbiter and VDC. Mike Hanson has been named technical support manager for "all things Pig" at High End Systems' Los Angeles office. Hanson has been with the company for five years, joining after his stint on the lighting crew for Metallica's 1996-97 world tour. Duff has held a number of CFO positions with Pfizer and Hanson and lately the electronics company International Flex Technologies, and his appointment comes after a series of high profile changes at the company. Duff attended the Liverpool City Institute before graduating at Bradford University with a business degree. Following training with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in London and subsequent work as a Chartered Accountant he moved to Canada, where he became CFO of Pfizer Canada, transferring to the company’s corporate headquarters in New York in the mid-1980s. Otero has an Electronics Engineering degree with an emphasis in digital control from the University of Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia, and has 20 years of audio design, manufacturing and installation experience. Germany's Arcus Lighting has strengthened its support of High End Systems and Flying Pig Systems products with the recent addition of Ruediger Haeming to its team. Haeming, a well-known industry professional, joined Arcus in March when the company became a High End Systems distributor in Germany. On July 1, he was appointed sales director and product manager for Arcus' inventory of HES products.

Says Haeming: "The close cooperation between manufacturer and professional users will be one of the main areas that my work at Arcus will concentrate on.
