Australia - The Capitol Theatre Tamworth, New South Wales, is a 402-seat purpose-built proscenium arch theatre, located in the new Centrepoint Shopping Complex in the town. The Theatre shares its foyer and bar facilities with Forum6 cinemas.

Theatre consultant Richard Stuart was engaged to plan and oversee the fit-out of the theatre. He explains: "Originally the theatre was going to be a large cinema but halfway through construction they developed the idea of making the largest cinema a live theatre. Consequently the building design was put on hold for a while whilst the theatre design evolved. As the developer started to think about theatre equipment and machinery, I was brought in as Theatre Consultant for the project although the building structure was well and truly locked in design-wise."

The main issue to be addressed was turning a large rectangular box cinema

UK - Academy Music Group (AMG) has purchased 18 GLP Impression LED RGB lights - for use in O2 Academy venues in Bristol, Liverpool and Newcastle. These fixtures have been supplied and installed by Utopium, AMG's lighting supplier.

AMG's group technical manager, Ed Jackson said the decision to invest in the high-powered fixtures became self-evident after seeing them turn up increasingly on touring productions. "Numerous technical managers across AMG venues were also commenting on them, so we knew these were the lights to invest in," he said.

UK - New 'Spike' LED light columns from EcoLEDLighting and Holophane Europe are being used to promote accessibility and safety for users and visitors to Milton Keynes Hospital. Located in a park close to the hospital, the custom-built fittings deliver enhanced light levels on pathways as well as significantly improving sightlines for pedestrians visiting the hospital and nearby public transport terminus.

The project to improve safety and access around the Hospital was undertaken by Milton Keynes Council who had become concerned that people were making unnecessary diversions because the main pathways were badly lit in places. WSP were commissioned to undertake a redesign and upgrade of the existing lighting arrangements. They chose a bespoke column fitting from local lighting manufacturer Holophane, who cleverly integrated EcoLEDLighting's cutting-edge, energy saving LED technolo

The key spaces were all connected by a 100m long corridor that acted as a central artery for the event flow and movement. Working alongside WRG, Essential Li

Sweden - Wireless Solution Sweden AB has launched investigations against copycat companies worldwide using the same title as both the company and its well-known W-DMX brand of wireless DMX technology.

Niclas Arvidsson, CEO of Wireless Solution explains: "This has been a problem for a while, but it is getting worse. For example, there is an Italian company using the name 'wireless solution' on their website and printed in their catalogues, while the legal and registered company name has nothing to do with this. There is also a Chinese manufacturer selling OEM products with both 'W_DMX' and 'W-DMX' but are not in any sort of partnership with W-DMX made in Sweden by Wireless Solution Sweden AB. These examples represent blatant trademark infringement."

Arvidsson continues: "For OEM companies who support this theft of brand names we will start to take action in Europ

Denmark - The Martin MAC 301 Wash is an LED moving head washlight with a powerfully fast zoom and impressive zoom range. Designed for a variety of settings including rental applications, television use and night-time venues, it is capable of producing a wide range of exceptional colours from rich saturated shades to uniform pastels through the entire zoom range, says the company.

The fixture's 108 LEDs produce a bright and well-defined beam. With LEDs arrayed in a high density design, a more even blending of colours is achieved.

A principal feature of the MAC 301 Wash is its RGB colour mixing system. The full spectrum system combines with the optical system to produce a wide
