Spain - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid is Spain's biannual style statement for the international fashion stage, and a forum in which Robert Juliat's Merlin followspot was able to work its magic.

Entrusted with its high-profile lighting design, Citylight S.L., a leading Madrid-based rental, sales and installation company, boosted its lighting inventory with the purchase of four Robert Juliat Merlin followspots to ensure the country's hottest fashion moments were bathed in light of the highest quality.

Citylight positioned the four Merlin spots front-of-house in the vast Feria de Madrid venue to cover the models as they paraded on the catwalk. "With throw distances of 30m to 40m, it was very clear we required the high quality afforded by the Merlins," Citylight stated.

Designed originally to endure the rigours of touring, the fully-featured Merlin followspots, supplie

Italy - Twelve Robe BMFL WashBeams were utilised by artist and lighting designer Mariano de Tassis in an installation at the mausoleum of Italian patriot and Irredentist Cesare Battisti in Trento.

The installation was produced by Filmwork Factory to celebrate the centenary of the death of Battisti. The original idea of highlighting the mausoleum with 12 powerful beams shooting up into the night sky to match the 12 columns of the monument was Mariano's himself, pitched to the Municipality of Trento. He commissioned photographer Pierluigi Cattani Faggion to document the work.

The mausoleum is located on the top of Doss Hill in Trento and was designed by architect Ettore Fagiuoli and inaugurated in 1935. Its 12 columns are 15m high and follow a circumference of 75 metres. It is visible from all over the city and surrounding countryside.

UK - Battersea Dogs & Cats Home's annual Collars & Coats Gala Ball returned for its eighth year, with Hawthorn on hand to deliver full technical production for the star-studded event. Taking place at Battersea Evolution, a venue set in the grounds of Battersea Park, the creative technical production expert provided lighting, sound and video for the four-legged occasion.

To create the paw-fect atmosphere, Hawthorn used the event branding as inspiration to deliver a chic and stylish production design. With black and gold making up the key colours for the evening, 60 linear metres of custom black and gold drapes were incorporated into the main dining space, helping to develop the overall style of the event whilst also creating an intimate atmosphere for the 748 guests.

Wanting to create a completely different environment to previous years, Hawthorn used two truss circles with

Off The Campaign Trail - While the American Music Awards is designed to celebrate the best in US music, many artists instead took the opportunity to comment on the election of Donald Trump. Green Day were perhaps the most vocal group on the night. During a pyrotechnic-filled performance, they turned their track Bang Bang into an anti-Trump song. President-elect Trump has previously declared himself a fan of the punk rock group's work, having seen their musical American Idiot and describing it as "excellent".

Sting took home a lifetime achievement award and his acceptance speech seemed to make reference to current affairs. Rock music is "perhaps America's greatest and most influential export," he said, before saying the genre has been "always open to all colours in the spirit of welcome and inclusion". He added, "A mixing of culture, of rhythm and passion is what

UK - Aurora Lighting supported lighting director Gurdip Mahal and gaffer James Tinsley on a brace of shows for Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer.

Filmed in front of an audience at Central Hall, Westminster, the SU2C live event included appearances by Boy George, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and John Legend, for an evening of entertainment, all focused on raising awareness of the fight against cancer.

The LD, gaffer and crew made good use of an array of fixtures including almost 100 GLP X4 and SGM P-5 LED to add deep, vibrant colour washes throughout the grandiose interior of the Central Hall. Using a mix of the ultra-versatile Clay Paky Mythos, Vari-lite 1000TS and Martin MAC Viper Profile automated heads, the look was given a modern edge that contrasted perfectly against the majestic setting.

Europe - Dutch symphonic metal band Delain are touring Europe this fall on a Moonbathers tour and using the versatile effects of Elation Professional's ACL 360 Bar LED battens to complement the big-hook metallic rock show.

Lighting designer on the tour is Nick van Balen, who was looking for a powerful multi-effect light to project a variety of looks and support the band's grandiose sound. "Dennis Bruynseels from Elation invited me to the Elation headquarters in Kerkrade (NL) to check out the ACL 360 Bar and I liked what I saw," he said. "I liked the effects you could get out of the 360 Bars and it was there that the idea was born to use them for this tour."

Delain came to prominence in the early 2000s as a prime example of symphonic metal with its hard-driving, Eurocore guitars and impassioned classical-style vocals, expertly done by Charlotte Wessels.

Liz Hobbs Group both promoted and produced the tour for the former Westlife frontman, featuring big production values in more intimate venues. South Africa - DWR Distribution supplied two identically designed and built schools with a basic lighting solution to accommodate school plays and general assemblies.

Soshanguve Secondary School, situated about 25 kilometres north of Pretoria, and the Chief Albert Luthuli Primary School in Daveyton, Benoni are government schools established to change the face of schools located in townships. Each school consists of 33 classrooms and sporting facilities. They are exact copies of each other.

"We were called by a company called IES Electrical to assist with the project," explains Johnny Scholtz from DWR. "They wanted a simple lighting system, fixtures that could change colour, and a small control system."

DWR installed three lighting bars, a FOH overhead and a back truss, with all the necessary rigging gear, to each school hall. Each school was also supplied with four Phi

USA - School spirit runs high at Linden High School. The comprehensive public school has won New Jersey state championships in several sports in recent years and has even seen some of its alumni go on to achieve glory in the NFL and Major League Baseball. Still, at the auditorium, a common gathering spot for school-wide celebrations, the old incandescent lighting system was not making the grade.

Clearly, it was time for an upgrade, but like many schools across the country, Linden, which is located about 13 miles southwest of Manhattan, faced the challenge of upgrading to a new LED lighting system, while still staying within tight budget restrictions.

Enter Nelson Enterprises. A theatrical systems integration services company, Nelson had recently helped a nearby high school make a successful - and affordable - transition to an LED system. Consulting with the school's electr

UK - Celebrated lighting director Chris Bushell chose a powerfully compact Quartz console from British manufacturer Avolites to busk the emotively impactful lighting for James Blake's gig at Brixton's 02 Academy, London. The show was part of the minimalist electronica star's world tour to promote his third album, The Colour in Anything, the follow-up to his Mercury-Prize-winning second album, Overgrown.

Having previously worked with Amy Winehouse, Florence and the Machine and Arcade Fire, Bushell has been Blake's lighting director for over six years - accompanying him on his rise from unknown music graduate to Best New Artist nominee at the 2014 US Grammys.

Although an electronic artist, Blake insists that he and his band play all their instruments and gadgets live on stage. Similarly, he stipulates that the lighting and visuals are manipulated live too - to

USA - Shaping Sound, the contemporary dance company founded by Emmy-nominated choreographers Travis Wall, Nick Lazzarini, Teddy Forance, and dance visionary Kyle Robinson, wrapped up its six week fall tour with a lighting package designed by Seth Jackson and provided by Bandit Lites, and while Robinson was the only one of the four to hit the road with the production titled Dance Reimagined, the show itself continued to wow audiences with its visionary prowess.

The part rock concert and part pop show with breath-taking dance numbers followed the story of a girl (performed by So You Think You Can Dance season 12 winner, Gaby Diaz) as she struggles being in a loveless relationship. The most recent iteration of the story featured a few new additions as Travis Wall went deeper into the abusive boyfriend character, with the lighting giving the audience members immediat

UK - Holy Trinity Church in Frome was built by the architect H.E. Goodridge in the middle part of the nineteenth century. This Grade II* listed building is noteworthy for a few reasons, not least that where traditionally a church would be expected to face east, Holy Trinity faces northwest. Its collection of Victorian windows designed by pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones and made by William Morris, add to the interest at this very active and vibrant community church.

In 2008, Architects Benjamin and Beauchamp won a competition to design an extensive re-ordering of the interior of this large 'Hall' church. Their scheme involved the creation of some new spaces within a more flexible interior that would better suit the changing needs of a contemporary church. Any scheme in a historic, listed building requires painstaking attention to heritage and conservation details. In m

USA - On 2 August, 1956, US President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed papers that enacted Constitution Week. Since that time, communities throughout the United States have used the occasion to commemorate and honour the 4,543-word document that has served as the framework for the country's legal system for the past two-and-a-quarter centuries. In most communities, these celebrations pass in relative obscurity, but not in Gilbert, Arizona.

Located 22 miles southeast of Phoenix, Gilbert holds what is widely regarded as the largest Constitution Week celebration in the US, complete with food, fireworks, theatres, live music, flyovers and educational programmes. A highlight of this year's event was a stirring performance by the 700-voice Millennial choir that was illuminated by a collection of Chauvet Professional fixtures supplied by Creative Backstage.

DMX-Buffer is an economical alternative to an opto-splitter when there is a need to run DMX over distances greater than the standard limit of 300m. It rebuffers the DMX signal and offers full support for RDM.

Housed in a protective metal case and powered from a standard 9V PSU with a DC jack , DMX-Buffer is simple to use. DMX-Buffer XLR uses a standard 5-pin male XLR connector that is terminated internally. The output connector is an 5-pin female XLR connector. DMX-Buffer is also offered with Ethercon connectors (DMX-Buffer RJ45) to enable use with Cat5 cable.

DMX-Clarify is offered in the same form factor. It offers similar functionality to DMX-Buffer, but operates permanently in 'data fix' mode
