This solution accommodates all the Myrens Sportssenter's requirements, from the aerobic and spinning sessions to the reception priority overrides and fire alarm interface.

The ZonePRO 1261 digital zone processor forms the hub of an integrated Harman Pro system proposed by distributors, LydRommet. The company was approached by the landlord of the historic building, which has been converted from the famous old Myrens Verksted mechanical workshops that existed here during the last century. Sharing ownership of the large building are four companies who respectively manage indoor climbing, squash, general fitness and golf driving simulation.

UK - The White House in Clapham, London SW, has installed a substantial Turbosound-based sound system as part of a major refit. The White House was originally opened in 2001 as a bar and restaurant, but the three-storey Georgian building has now been converted into a bar/nightclub hybrid. The ground floor features the nightclub and main restaurant area, the first floor a roof terrace and lounge area, with a private members bar on the top floor.

For the sound system, operations director Yann Roberts chose a combination of Turbosound QLight, TCS Compact and Impact loudspeakers . Two TQ-445DPs and two TSB-118 subs service the dance floor area; the restaurant is appointed with six tq-310s, augmented by six TSB-110 subs, while eight Impact 50s with four TSB-110 subs, six TCS-101C and a further TSB-118 provide audio for the first floor. Russia - Maly Theatre in Moscow recently celebrated its troupe's 250th anniversary, making it the oldest in Russia. The theatre had even more reason to celebrate this milestone, as it got to show off the first completed phase of its £4.9m (€7.2m) renovation, which includes some of the latest lighting technology from ETC.

In 1756, by decree of Empress Elizabeth, the repertory troupe was formed at Moscow State University and was named 'Moscow Russia Theatre'. In 1780 the troupe moved to the Petrovskii Theatre, next to the Bolshoi, on what is now Theatre Square. In 1824 the theatre became officially known as the Maly, which means 'small' in Russian, because it is smaller than the Bolshoi ('big').

Germany - Four F3+ SXGA+ DLPTM projectors from Norwegian manufacturer projectiondesign are now at the heart of the conferencing facility at the Marshall Centre for European Security Studies, following an installation by systems integrator Screen New Technologies.

Named after George C Marshall, the US-born architect of the Marshall Plan which helped to rebuild Western Europe's shattered economy after the devastation of World War II, the Marshall Centre opened its doors in 1993 in the German town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Jointly sponsored by the governments of the US and Germany, the Centre was originally tasked with furthering the cause of stability in post-Cold War Europe. Since then, its remit has been broadened to promote the peaceful co-operation of nations throughout North America, Europe and Eurasia.

Channel Islands - Fort Regent - originally a Napoleonic fortress dating back to the early 1800s - is Jersey's largest multipurpose centre. It features a 2,500 seat concert venue, vast sporting facilities, the biggest gym on the island and extensive conference and event facilities.

The State of Jersey Department for Education, Sport and Culture commissioned locally based company LED Lighting Technology with the task of designing and installing an energy efficient lighting solution for the main entrance to the complex, to give an inviting and atmospheric welcome to the vast array of visitors - including concert goers, sport players, conference delegates and general public - whilst complementing the stunning old stone vaults.

USA -The Pearl concert theatre at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas recently opened its doors, immediately establishing itself as one of the world's most technologically advanced performance venues. SIA Acoustics designed the acoustics and sound system, which was installed by lAudio Analysts, and features JBL Vertec DP Series powered line arrays.

The Pearl, which seats a modest 2,500, provides an intimate setting for high-profile artists, as evidenced by Gwen Stefani's performance at the venue's grand opening on April 21. Other acts slated to perform at The Pearl include Tool, Morrissey, Bloc Party and Fall Out Boy.

USA - Emerald Downs, Seattle's horse racing circuit nestled at the foot of the Cascade Mountains, has installed an iLive 144 and iDR10 digital mixing system from Allen & Heath. The console is installed in the track's main control room and handles 56 inputs from various audio sources including announcer mics, the many simulcasts that provide playback of events for the spectators, and more. Walter Lucas of Seattle Pro Audio presided over the installation.

All 32 mix outputs of the iDR10 are utilised, and the programmable nature of the iLive surface allowed the engineers to configure the different mix outputs to provide feeds to the stadium, boxes, hospitality suites, track, OB vans, other broadcast feeds, and monitor mixes.

UK - The international-sized ice pad at the Link Centre is recognised as a 'Centre of Excellence' for both figure skating and ice hockey and is home to the Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team. The first Friday of every month is Sub Zero Friday, with a club atmosphere in the ice rink, creating an environment which turns the rink into "the hottest club night on ice".

Stagecraft Theatre Services Ltd were contracted to overhaul the venue by removing all the old lighting bars and lights and tidy the venue up to turn it into a club environment to cater for all ages of customer and to make the venue more fun.

USA - Hardly a week goes by that Pure nightclub at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas isn't in the pages of national celebrity publications or on national entertainment television. The club's ability to secure the top-name celebrities (Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and many more) and celebrated special events is notable, even among Vegas' competitive nightclub landscape.

Switzerland -With its compact profile and light weight, the Nexo Geo S cabinet is a winning proposition for historic interiors that demand a line-array solution. In Geneva, the Casino Theatre is just such a venue.

Zap Audio, the Geneva-based equipment importer and system designer, has already created an impact in the city with the installation of a Geo S tangent-array system in the celebrated Victoria Hall, a landmark classical music venue well-known in international touring circles.

Encouraged by the success of the Victoria Hall, the Zap team was next consulted by the Casino Theatre, a smaller venue also of historic importance to which they often supplied rental systems. The theatre's technical team chose to design and install the system itself, using Nexo's GEOSoft package.

USA - Theatrical Lighting Systems (TLS) recently completed the installation of lighting to the exterior of the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA) Battle House Tower in Mobile, Ala. The 745 foot building is Alabama's tallest office building, with a three story lobby, four floor hotel, and 25 floors for office space.

Doug Bennett, TLS project manager, worked with Wayne J. Griffin Electric of Holliston, Mass. to provide the lighting fixtures and control for the lighting design by PHA Lighting of Atlanta.

The TLS lighting package comes from Martin Professional and includes: 16 Exterior 1200's, 36 Exterior 600's, and 96 Exterior 200's all controlled by the Maxxyz PC.

The exterior lighting is designed to will enhance the building's architecture as well as add a bold colour-palette to the downtown area during holiday seasons and other cultural activities, such as the annual Mardi

Russia - Et Cetera Theater is a newly built, six-storey, 8,940 sq.m performing arts facility that opened recently in Moscow. For more than a decade, home for the theatre's troupe was a smaller building on Moscow's Arbat Street. This year marks a new beginning as the troupe takes over the new facility near the city's centre.

Et Cetera has two halls - a main hall with a capacity of 650 and a smaller hall of 150. The Theatre designers wanted to fit out the new halls with the latest in stage technology, including moving lights. They chose ETC's Source Four Revolutions - 48 of them - setting a record for the most Revolutions in a single European venue.

The new automated fixtures have been hung throughout the theatre in order to light every aspect of the stage, doing away with the refocusing work of dozens of conventional luminaires on many positions. Several of the Revolutions are

UK - J&C Joel, working in partnership with Strabane District Council and Production Services North, has supplied and installed a stage flying system and mechanical engineering to the new Alley Arts & Conference Centre in Strabane, Northern Ireland.

The project was handled for J&C Joel by contracts manager Tony Griffiths, who assisted in the technical design of the building and in the client's final choice of stage equipment.

The client chose a highly flexible arrangement of 14 3-phase, 250kg, single speed, 4-line electrically operated pilewind winch units, plus six 4-line hemp sets.

UK - Beach Blanket Babylon (BBB as it is known) occupies an old Georgian house in the heart of London's Notting Hill. Established in 1990, its eclectic décor of French country chateau combined with Gaudiesque architecture, and its selection of different dining rooms known as The Crypt, The Scullery, The Chapel and The Gallery make it one of the most consolidated, prestigious - and unusual - gothic destinations in London.

Recently owners Robert Newmark and Graham Rebak sensed that in order to keep BBB firing on all cylinders they needed to improve their sound system. And so they returned to their long-term A/V suppliers, the Sound Division Group (SDG).

The relationship with Newmark and Rebak has developed over a three-year period since they were first introduced by near neighbours (and fellow SDG clients), Adam and Charles Breeden from the award-winning Lonsdale.

Turkey - Midas' Turkish distributor Atempo has supplied four customised Heritage 1000 consoles to national broadcaster TRT for its regional radio stations. The consoles have been installed in radio studios in Izmir, Trabzon, Erzurum and Diyarbakir, where they are being used for live front of house work as well as for live production broadcast work.

Midas won the contract, which went out to tender, after TRT decided that the H1000 offered advantages over the competition, including its FOH abilities. The tender required that each console should have transformer balanced inputs - an option on the H1000. One of the consoles has 28 microphone and four stereo inputs, while the other three have 20 microphone and four stereo inputs, all with the transformer balanced input option.

UK - Glen Smith Audio has returned to the British Museum to install a second Midas Verona console in the Stevenson Theatre, a 150-capacity lecture hall at the heart of the BM's conferencing facilities in London.

Last autumn, Glen Smith recommended a 32-channel Verona for the adjacent BP Lecture Theatre, and such has been its success, the Museum has repeated its order for a smaller 24-channel console.

"We just replicated the system we have next door," says Museum sound engineer Dave Hogan. Germany - Bosch Security Systems has added a visual notification appliance to its range of 420 Series fire-detector accessories. The Strobe 420 Series is compatible with Bosch's base sounder to provide optimal visible and audible fire alarm warning in a wide range of applications. The strobe has a new LED design that produces synchronised, high-visibility flashes at 1Hz. Light flashing in the 1 to 3 Hz frequency range avoids possible blinding effects or disturbance to persons with photosensitivity. The 420 series strobe is an addressable device with the advantage that it is loop powered, freely configurable and determining which strobe is switched on and in which event.

UK - Academy Music Group (AMG) has confirmed a further capacity increase for its newest venue, Carling Academy Oxford. The new total building capacity is now 1,350. The site of the former Zodiac on Cowley Road is currently in development to create three separate, flexible performance spaces for live music and club events.

The £2m project will be completed in September, with state of the art facilities both front of house and backstage. "We have been working closely with the local authorities to increase the overall site capacity and we're delighted with this new offering for touring artists and promoters. We plan to operate up to three separate rooms if required, and can increase the auditorium of Carling Academy Oxford for larger touring acts, utilising the maximum lower floor space.
