Colombia - Light magician and creative director, Tupac Martir, has announced his latest creative project - Lux Festival; a light and video showcase where the dynamic canvas for the adventurous event is the colonial architecture and cobbled streets and squares of the historic coastal town of Cartagena, Colombia.

Set to run from 4-8 January 2017, Lux Festival will feature designs from some of the most imaginative international theatre, concert touring and event lighting and video artists the world has to offer. USA - Doughty Engineering's new Articulated Carriage made its official debut at this year's LDI show. Visitors to stand 1946 got the opportunity to see the new product which Doughty has added to its Studio Rail 60 range and which has been designed with film, TV and theatre in mind.

The Netherlands - With over three months to go before it opens its doors Integrated Systems Europe 2017 has been confirmed as the biggest exhibition in the event's 14-year history following an increase in show-floor space, exhibitors and halls.

A true indication of the event's international pulling power is the fact that ISE 2017 will see 135 first time exhibitors making their debut at the show. In total, ISE 2017 will feature over 3,000sq.m of additional show-floor exhibition space compared to ISE 2016.

USA - Chroma-Q's Color Force II has won two awards at the LDI in Las Vegas. The fixture was recognised as the Best Debuting Conventional Lighting Fixture by LDI and took the Members Product Choice Equipment Award awarded by ESTA, the Entertainment and Services Technology Association.

The LDI judges said, "The Chroma-Q Color Force 2 showed a stunning face and elegant colour mixing, both as a smooth surface wash and as a clean visual look."

SHoW DMX Multiverse provides "unprecedented levels of wireless DMX data transmission in a tiny package", for the first time, allowing the realistic possibility of a professional quality wireless DMX chip in every DMX device. USA - French LED digital lighting manufacturer, Ayrton, worked in close conjunction with exclusive US distributor, Morpheus Lights, to present its new line-up of LED lighting products to the US at this year's LDI show in Las Vegas.

Ayrton's latest innovative creations were shown in a dramatic 300-fixture showpiece display on the shared Morpheus Lights/Ayrton booth.

The demonstration featured the new, 15:1 zoom-equipped MagicPanel-FX projector and the new MagicBurst 240,000 lumen graphic strobe luminaire, along with IntelliPix-XT, VersaPix-RS and AlienPix-RS fixtures.

Germany - To make people aware of the achievements of those working behind the stage and of their creativity, the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce has set up an award to honour Germany's most creative trainees.

Taking place for the eighth time, the Baden Baden Awards 2016 will be honouring outstanding final papers by recently graduated stage set artists and stage set sculptors, make-up artists, sound and image media designers, event representatives, event technicians and property masters.

Earls Court Exhibition Centre (home to the PLASA Show) and sister venue Olympia have been sold by the P&O Group to an acquisition vehicle backed by Candover and the Morris family for £183 million. Included in the sale are P&O Events, the organisers of PLASA, P&O Exhibition Services, which provides exhibition services to exhibitors and specialist catering business Beeton Rumford. The net consideration for the sale will be settled in cash, plus a £20 million loan note repayable over 10 years. Candover is a private equity company, whilst the Morris family owns City Industrial Limited which operates The Business Design Centre in Islington, London.

Lighting director Victor Fable used a new Virtuoso lighting control console from Vari-Lite for September's MTV Video Music Awards, which took place in New York. Using a Virtuoso for just the second time, Fable worked closely with lighting designer Allen Branton and lighting directors Tom Beck and Michael Goodwin for the live broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera House. With a rig of moving lights including VL4, VL7, VL7B, VL5B, VL6 and VL6B luminaires, Fable found that the Virtuoso made his job easier. "It actually made doing a large show much easier than if I had used an Artisan console. I would have had to put the show on two separate Artisan desks and run them both, whereas Virtuoso handled 440 channels easily and managed it all quite well."He continued: "Virtuoso allowed me to load up many more chases and break up the show much more effectively and quickly. Following research carried out by international brokers Goldman Sachs, which forecasts that the value of business conducted via the Internet in the next four years will amount to £1trillion, the publishers of Internet Business magazine are staging the UK's first two-day conference aimed at managers who want to take advantage of business opportunities offered by the Internet. SIEL 2000 looks set to welcome around 300 exhibitors to Hall 3 at the Paris Expo-Porte de Versailles from 6-9 February 2000. The Leisure Industry Week exhibition (LIW) took place at the NEC in Birmingham from 28-30 September, attracting a record 24,622 visitors to its halls. Rainmaker, the Sussex-based corporate, industrial, special event and theatrical lighting design specialist, has enjoyed a busy Autumn, producing ideas, equipment and crew for a raft of high profile clients. In Greece, the company worked on a job for production company Purchasepoint with Novartis Pharmaceuticals at the Astir Palace Resort, Athens. Closer to home, it also provided lighting and production for a prestigious one-off charity evening with the English National Ballet at The Mansion House, the Lord Mayor's London residence. Finally, the company's Jim Hepplewhite presented an eye-catching creative lighting scheme for a recent conference in Hall 1 of the ICC, Birmingham for supermarket giants Tesco.

Numark DJ equipment was used on site for vinyl promotion at the 4th Dance Music Conference in Amsterdam in October. The conference is Europe's largest forum for International DJs and music professionals to discuss issues of Dance Music as a cultural phenomenon. The three-day conference was supplied exclusively with Numark professional DJ equipment by Amsterdam-based Interstate Audio. The 12 proTT-1 direct-drive turntables and six proSM-1 two-channel mixers were used to provide 'listening stations' for all the participants in the main foyer of the conference centre.
