Qatar - Two soccer stadiums in Qatar have each been equipped with custom designed Renkus-Heinz IC Live digitally beam steerable PA systems, configured to deliver music, safety announcements and match commentary in the largely roofless venues, which are owned by the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC).

The multi-purpose stadium in Al-Rayyan, Qatar, home to the Al-Rayyan and Al-Kharitiyath sports clubs, and the near-identical Al-Gharafa stadium, seat around 25,000 apiece. Both are largely open-air apart from VIP grandstands, and in a country where summertime temperatures can hit 40°C/104°F, the term "bleacher" means exactly what it says.

They are the latest in a series of high profile Renkus-Heinz beam steering installations in the Middle East, two other recent prestigious projects being the Qatar Royal Mosque and the Dubai Swim Stadium.

UK - Milton Keynes based Impact Production Services (IPS) has added a customised Prolyte Roof System to its range of outdoor stages. Following a first build at the LS-Live Studio in Wakefield, the 16m by 14m structure has already been used at the Grand Scottish Prom at Glamis Castle, and as the main stage at Standon Calling, Hertfordshire.

Manufactured by Prolyte Group, this variation of a CLT Roof System is constructed from S52V grid truss supported by seven S40T truss towers from the Prolyte Structures range. A Layher Allround Scaffolding system base structure supports EV100 Event Decks that form the 16m x 14m stage platform.

UK - It has been a highly successful year for Northern Ireland trio Two Door Cinema Club, playing many festival dates around the globe as well as indoor shows in Europe, North America, Mexico and Singapore. All of which must make Front of House engineer Pete Bartlett's comprehensive Sennheiser microphone kit incredibly widely travelled.

Pete first started using Sennheiser mics back in the late 1970s and switched to using them full-time in 2005 with Bloc Party.

"I bought two 421s way back in 1978 and I've always loved the 441," he says. "I used another manufacturer's mics for years, without thinking there was a serious alternative, until the point came with Bloc Party when I wanted something tighter and more in keeping with their first record. The Sennheisers worked so well that I got hooked and the sound of the microphones has translated really well to Two Door

- Projection designs by Nina Dunn of creative agency Knifedge are to take centre stage when Northern Ballet's acclaimed production of Cleopatra goes on tour to Nottingham, Woking and Norwich this Autumn.

Whereas projection mapping is more conventionally used to wow a one-off audience with a single playback stunt seen from a single perspective, for Cleopatra Dunn has developed the technique to integrate with the live performance and change on cue and in tune with the piece.

The projection designs for Cleopatra play both scenic and emotional roles in the new production - adding atmosphere, depth and context to the simple set design, whilst still allowing the dancers maximum space to perform. It is the first time Northern Ballet has used projections in one of its productions, and projection designer Dunn has worked closely with her programmer, Sam Hunt, an
