France - Another French horse racing course has installed a Nexo sound system, this time at the famous Hippodrome Deauville-La-Touques located in Deauville in the Calvados department, in the Normandy region.
A system installed by French AV technology specialists Manganelli and designed using Nexo’s NS-1 configuration and prediction software consists of 10 x Nexo P8 point source speakers covering the stands and a similar number the larger P10 cabinets addressing the lawned areas in front of the stand up to the edge of the track. Cabinets and mounting brackets are finished in a custom paint colour to match the underside of the roof, allowing the system to blend in seamlessly with the design of the stand.

UK - Fireworks displays require high-powered audio and Wharfedale Pro provided the right gear to supplement a recent pyrotechnic event at Huntingdon Racecourse. The integration team at Sound Junkies deployed a Wharfedale Pro WLA-28A Active Line Array system to support one of the largest fireworks displays in the region, organised by Komodo Events in support of the Magpas Air Ambulance.
Due to the large-scale nature of the event, the WLA-28A system was deployed in three ground stacks along the 100m field of view. The main left and right stacks comprised four WLA-28A elements and two WLA-28SUBA active subwoofers, while the central stack used four WLA-28A alongside four WLA-218BA Dual 18” active subs. USA - The Gaslight Anthem played the Holmdel, NJ PNC Arts Centre amphitheatre on a blustery October night, the New Brunswick band’s biggest local concert in eight years.
A bold and powerful Matt Bodner lighting design featured fast-moving aerial effects, and a variety of and bold colour palettes, as well as plenty of audience lighting. Bodner, who lit the band on their summer tour, that culminated at the PNC Arts Centre, beefed up his rig for this hometown show, with extra Chauvet Professional fixtures from Squeek Lights.
“I used Maverick 20 Force Spot fixtures, 26 Rogue R3 Washes, and 16 STIKE Array 4 in the air,” said Bodner. “I designed the lighting plot for the fly package as well, using it for our shows Wembley Arena and Manchester Apollo in the UK. For this show, we added 14 Rogue R1 BeamWashes and another 18 STRIKE Array 4s, for a total of 32 blinders.

Il Divo, the multi-national vocal quartet, had the same line up for the past 18 years until, sadly, founder member, Carlos Marín, passed away from COVID-19 last December. The group had been part-way through their Motown-themed tour, For Once in My Life, and, after much heart-searching and encouragement from their fans, decided to continue the tour and rearrange it to honour their long-term friend.
The reconfigured tour, renamed Greatest Hits Tour, began in February and will continue until December – a total of 105 international dates in 2022 - with more to come in 2023.

This year it was able to resume again in front of an audience at the Zócalo in the centre of Mexico City after two years of being held remotely due to the COVID pandemic. According to official calculations more than 160,000 people celebrated the national holiday out on the streets again.

Creative Careers - The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has launched a £950,000 careers programme aimed at giving young people from under-represented backgrounds opportunities in the creative industries. The Creative Careers Programme, which will include theatres, is being led by ScreenSkills, and will target 53 priority areas across the country, including Barking and Dagenham, Wolverhampton, Rotherham, Slough and Swindon, the DCMS said.
Delivery partners include Get Into Theatre, One Dance UK, UK Music, UK Theatre and the Society of London Theatre. The programme aims to help young people from under-represented backgrounds "break into the creative industries" and will offer guidance on careers, help pay for lesson plans, establish a dedicated careers website and provide training for careers advisers.

This purchase is part of phase one of a refresh of the studios, with the desks settling in very well from the get-go. “Obviously returning students feel right at home, with nothing significantly different to learn, just some great new features to explore,” says LIPA’s head of sound technology, Jon Thornton.
