A key supplier over recent years, Hawthorn has now been awarded the contract to provide all of the in-house rigging service to Millbrook Events. The development continues the growth of Hawthorn's venue rigging service packages which offer a combination of design, support and full equipment testing to their clients.

At the same time Hawthorn will replace the existing truss in Concept 1 with a bespoke curved section following the shape of the building and the feature lighting throughout both Concept 1 and Concept 2 is currently being upgraded to LED fixtures. This will allow the structural elements of the buildings to be lit to suit the client's requirements without the cost and time involved in replacing gels.

Owner Aria Ariantalab has spent close on £1 million fulfilling his dream to create Bar Sequence, a 75-capacity environment (with separate pavement seating) in which everyone from media creatives to the gamer generation can interact in a social environment.

A former electronic engineering lecturer and technology consultant, Ariantalab says: "Anyone can come in with a memory stick and plug into one of our laptops. "Media artists, graphic designers, photographers and photographic agents can show off their work - and as for DJ's and VJ's, we can assess these at our Wednesday 'Open Deck' nights."

Earlier this year, territorial distributors and event production company, TechnoPro LLC, produced the spectacular staging for the Muscat Festival 2009 at Al Qurum National Park in Oman, including lighting, audio, lasers, pyrotechnics and rigging equipment.

The gathering, which included Oman's royalty, and dignitaries from the government and private sector, witnessed the splendid lighting effects created on the set during the Opening Ceremony.

The inaugural event saw the debut of a specially-commissioned composition exploring the emotions and depicting scenes that characterise Vienna and the kindred cities of Paris, Lisbon and New York, traversing musical styles including blues, classical, Portuguese fado, French accordion, and jazz and soul from the USA.

The Show's organisers report that whilst pre-registrations were a healthy 10% up on last year, the total visitor count to the show was only slightly affected by the strike on London's underground system, down by 15% on 2008's figures.

Gaskell has worked with the band since 1996. "Dynamics are always the key with lighting an Orbital show," he explains, "You have to keep everything pumping with the music, which is full on from start to finish, so you need a very flexible and versatile selection of fixtures."

The concept was realised by event designer Joe Rigotti and consisted of white stretched fabric over a custom made frame.

Lighting designer Glen Goodwin explains: "Each piece of the stage back drop is 4' wide and 30' tall. I lit each row top and bottom with a PixelLine 110 - setup so I had control of each strip.
