USA - Rihanna's much anticipated Diamonds world tour kicked off in early March for 27 dates peppered across the U.S. and Canada through May - with more dates on the global horizon stretching into the fall. With Eighth Day Sound at the production helm, the audio kit included a pair of SD7s and a d&b audiotechnik PA provided by Eighth Day Sound, with Kyle Hamilton at FOH and Ed Ehrbar on monitors.

Last October, the group undertook an intense promotional tour (7-7-7) hitting seven countries in seven days for seven shows. Eighth Day supplied four complete control systems-two in Europe; one in the U.S. and another in Mexico City-so the engineers were able to simply walk in and mix. Although Ehrbar was working on an SD7 for the whirlwind week, Hamilton had to make do with another digital desk and was happy to be back on the SD7.

UK - Richard Martin Lighting (RML) has announced the recent purchase of the Clay Paky Sharpy Wash 330 which are available for hire now.

UK - Lighting control specialist Artistic Licence has announced that incumbent managing director, Simon Hobday, is moving on to explore new opportunities.

Hobday joined Artistic Licence as a technician in 2000. Over the years, he rose up the ranks, becoming managing director in 2010. Now, with many years of invaluable experience built up at the company, he feels the time is right to seek a different challenge.

Seifritz's new responsibilities include facilitating repairs at customer venues, providing links to qualified professionals who can conduct backstage inspections, making training available for new and experienced operators, and writing complete equipment estimates.

UK - Ross Ashton and The Projection Studio have designed and co-ordinated a permanent 270 degree video projection installation featuring an adaptation of their highly successful work Illuminata at Caerphilly Castle in Wales for CADW, the official guardian of the built heritage of Wales.

The show was originally a large format projection extravaganza created by Ashton and projected onto two buildings in the Castle's main courtyard for two short festival events in 2010 and 2011. This proved so popular and accessible that CADW wanted to integrate it as a lasting tribute to the colourful history of the Castle which could be enjoyed by the public all year round.

The product is made from 8mm glass and houses 2 LED sources. A narrow beam LED source highlights any centrepiece that is placed on top of the unit.
