UK - Robe's new LEDBeam 100 fixtures made their UK touring debut on the Happy Mondays recent three week outing, with lighting designed by Dave Farmer of THC Design.

Equipment for the major shows, including Manchester MEN Arena and three sold out Brixton Academy's, was supplied by Leeds based Zig Zag Lighting.

The iconic Manchester alt rock / ravers returned to live performance with a huge bang, and the original line up for the first time in 19 years, feeding the public's seemingly voracious appetite for band reformations from the era.

The LEDBeam 100s were joined by 13 x Robe Robin 600 Spots, 12 x LEDWash 600s and a selection of generics, so the Robe moving lights were very much the core of the rig.

The lights were rigged on two overhead trusses, on six different height vertical towers onstage and on the deck.

South Africa - The 18th Annual MTN SA Music Awards, held at Sun City was the biggest set Dream Sets had ever built.

"Robert Hoey was the set designer," explained Sean Hoey, partner at Dream Sets. "It was his vision and creation; he spent so many hours over several days at his drawing table, that the chair he was sitting on eventually broke."

Their brief by the client Vertical Limit Productions (VLP) was for Robert to design his dream set, one he had always wanted to design, without any limitations and as they put it, "something organic".

"On the morning of the pitch, Robert arrived at 9am and showed me the design before meeting with the client," remembers Hoey. Looking at it, Sean turned to his brother and said, "You're mad."

UK - The digital TV shopping channel QVC has been treating itself to some retail therapy with Innovative engineering company Triple E.

QVC, which claims to reach 15.4m UK homes, has installed Triple E track systems in all four of its new Chiswick Park studios.

In Studios 1, 3 and 4 QVC has installed twin parallel Unicyc track systems, which feature dropout sections and points. This particular system facilitates the easy swapping of Cyclorama backdrops between tracks or allows them to be easily lowered to the floor, minimising the necessity to work at height.

Studio 2 has been equipped with Triple E 2WAY track, which will be used to create a number of variable sized spaces, specifically for close up camera work.
