Abba Anger - Abba stars Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus have criticised the far-right Danish People's Party (DF) for using their hit Mamma Mia at rallies. The band had threatened to sue the DF, saying the band never allowed their music to be used politically. But their record company, Universal, later said the DF had agreed to stop using the 1976 hit.

The youth wing of the party had changed the lyrics of the song to Mamma Pia, in honour of their leader Pia Kjaersgaard. The anti-immigration DF is the third largest party in the Danish parliament. Andersson said he found out about its use when he was contacted by a left-wing pressure group who asked whether he supported the party's policies. He said he and Mr Ulvaeus had instructed lawyers to start legal action against the party if they did not stop using the song immediately. "Firstly, you cannot just rewrite

The Ministry auditorium was designed to seat 850 people, with the ground level for use by male guests only, and the upper balcony for ladies (with separate entrances provided for each level). Part of the A/V system design was to link

USA - For over six decades, Doug Weston's The Troubadour has been a flagship venue of the American music industry. The famous club on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood has been the site of performances by top artists through rock history, including the Eagles, Elton John, James Taylor, Metallica, Franz Ferdinand, the Strokes and Guns N'Roses, who, like many classic artists, got their careers going as a result of performances there.

The Troubadour continues to be a vital link in the evolving American music industry and culture, and microphones from Audio-Technica have played a key role in keeping it that way. Bobby Crown, the FOH Mixer, production manager and system engineer for The Troubadour for the last seven years, brought an all-A-T package of microphones into The Troubadour in 2008 and they've been in use since.

Ireland - ETC's Republic of Ireland dealer Cine Electric has completed installation of two Eos control desks at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.

Dave Carpenter, deputy head of lighting & sound at the theatre, says, "We were looking around for a replacement for our old desks, which were becoming old and difficult for our suppliers to support. Trying an Eos at ETC's offices in London proved it to be a perfect replacement. It had a familiar programming syntax, making it really easy to learn."

The theatre, which is the national theatre of Ireland, already had Cat 5 cabling installed, which meant that installation was as simple as plugging the desk into the gateways which Cine Electric installed around the venue. "I love the fact that the desk has direct select buttons," continues Carpenter. "They make programming so much quicker."

This follows the successful trial at this summer's InfoComm expo in Las Vegas, where visitors donned active stereo shutter glasses to experience one of the unforgettable moments of the show. They were able to view specially-created 3D content on a huge Supernova Infinity screen, equipped with a 0.8 low gain material to provide unique contrast and horizontal half gain viewing angles.

Fed from a Mechdyne Dimensions Media and 3D Server, projected from a Digital Projection TITAN Reference 1080p 3D projector, dnp met their combined goals of providing a high-contrast image with super wide viewing angles in a harsh overhead lighting setting.
