UK - Ableton is taking its Live software on the road again - with free Loopmasters samples, Novation prizes and Ableton goodies to give away at every venue.

After the success of last year's Ableton Live tour, Ableton and Novation have teamed up again to showcase Live 8 at select venues. With a new schedule of demonstrations and workshops, the organisers say there will be something for everyone - from beginners taking their first steps to seasoned power-users wanting to check out the new features. This time the focus will be on Scotland and the North of England.

Korea - A QSC WideLine-10 line array system has been installed in a new cultural centre in Korea. With two hangs of four WL2102 enclosures per side, the line array forms part of a complete QSC solution proposed by the manufacturer's Korean distributors, Sama ProSound, to deliver optimum sound at the YEJU Cultural Art Centre in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk.

Event lighting specialist, Matthieu Larivée, who has been honoured with international awards for his special event lighting designs at the Pyramids in Egypt, will deliver the keynote at the lighting solutions conference taking place at this year's PALME Middle East expo which takes place 26-28 April at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

USA - Shure Incorporated has filed a Petition for Reconsideration on the FCC White Spaces Rules (docket 04-186) published in the Federal Register in February.

"Whether the Commission's new 'White Spaces' rules successfully protect incumbent operations, including particularly wireless microphone operations, in this challenging spectrum environment is a matter determined by the specific details of the FCC's rules. It is imperative that these rules provide sufficient protection when actually implemented in real world environments," said Mark Brunner, senior director of industry and public relations for Shure. "It is critical that the FCC's technical and operational rules -- including pre-certification testing rules -- 'get it right' before mass produced equipment is pushed into the market."
