UK - As the dust settles on this year's PLASA Show, preliminary visitor figures show an increase of 3.5 per cent over 2005 (subject to audit), with an estimated 28 per cent coming from overseas - although some exhibitors have reported their own 'international' proportion was even higher than the show average.

"We believe the increased attendance at the event is another indication that the entertainment and communication technology industries are in a robust state of health," PLASA chief executive Matthew Griffiths commented. "Technologies continue to mature and deliver ever more benefits to a wider variety of customers, and the PLASA Show's pre-eminence as a launchpad for new products continues to make it a compelling attraction for visitors."

Korea - Recently built, the five hundred-seat Jung Sung Po Temple is situated on South Korea's second largest island, Keo Je Do, which is joined to the mainland by a bridge. The temple is part of the Chon Tae Order, a new Buddhist movement that promotes patriotism, Buddhism in daily life and the teachings of Buddha for the common man. The temple authorities approached d&b audiotechnik's Korean partner, Hak Kwon Kim, with a view to installing a d&b sound system to enable the congregation to fully appreciate the monks' Mass. "One of the monks, who was in charge of the PA installation, had previously heard a d&b system," explained Kim, "and hence the approach to us."

"We installed Max monitors and Ci80s on the altar immediately adjacent to the Buddha and used d&b E-PAC amplifiers to power the loudspeakers," continued Kim. "All the loudspeaker cabi

USA The licence-free, digital wireless intercom system, FreeSpeak 50 from Clear-Com, a Vitec Group brand, can now also maintain point-to-point communications wherever the beltpack user is roaming and was featured for the first time at IBC 2006.

The FreeSpeak / Cellcom matrix controller card, known as E-Que, can now provide its digital wireless beltpack users with full integration within the matrix. Through Dynamic Port Allocation (DPA), the matrix can maintain point-to-point communications with the beltpack user no matter which antenna it is communicating with or where the user is roaming.

FreeSpeak 50 operates using a cellular network of digital antennae directly connected to the Clear-Com matrix. Enabling the matrix to serve complex or very large areas and wireless systems with 50 or more users, where wired or line-of-sight communications would simply not be practical. This
