USA - First came the Concept:1 and Concept:2, two DMX combination scanner/laser effects from American DJ. Now the company has taken this "concept" a step further and added the Concept:Color, a DMX colour changer with the same design theme as its cousins.

The new Concept:Color is the ideal fixture for DJs, clubs and bands, Scott Davies, general manager of the American DJ Group of Companies: "The popularity of the Concept:1 and Concept:2 convinced us to add a colour changer to the line, so that users could run an ensemble of matching effects."

The Concept:Color offers 15 colours plus white, along with two prism-like quadras that split the light beam into four colours. As an added bonus, a removable Frost Filter lets DJs create a dreamy "wash" effect when desired. The Concept:Color includes two DMX channels that can be conveniently hooked up to the s

UK - Redditch-based sales, installation and service company Enlightenment has recently supplied 16 Robe moving lights to the Coliseum Theatre, Oldham, a busy 580-capacity producing house with a hectic and varied show schedule.

The eight Robe Spot 575XT and eight Robe Wash 575XT moving lights are part of a three-phase upgrade to the theatre's production lighting system undertaken by Enlightenment that has also included the supply of a console and dimmers.

Robe fixtures were initially suggested to the Coliseum's chief LX Phil Davies by Enlightenment's Paul Swansborough. They did a shoot out between Robe and assorted other brands, and Davies made his decision after careful deliberation. Beforehand, he'd spent a considerable time convincing the theatre's artistic director of the merits of automated lighting, and that they would greatly enhance productions generally and be a highly

Italy - The City and the Eyes was the theme of the 2004 edition of Nights of Light held, as usual, in the area of Piazza Dante Alighieri in Bergamo and organized by the Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Clay Paky and other Bergamo companies.

This year's project was created through the use of light in harmony with other artistic languages: music, theatre and dance. As in the past, the choice of event took account of both the artistic potential and audience participation, reinforcing the meaning and significance the Nights of Lights festival has assumed over the last few years.

The event opened on 2 September with a spectacle of hip-hop and break dance. Started as a social and artistic movement of the ethnic minorities in the United States, hip-hop is now a genre widely studied and practised in Italy.

The evening of 3 September was devoted to a spectacl

The 80,000sq.ft. facility will allow the company to combine all of its manufacturing departments under one roof for the first time, including the wood and cabinet shops and the engineering works. However, Sound Leisure Electronics - the software and electronics arm of Sound Leisure, will remain in its existing site in Nottingham.

The move to the new factory should be completed by the end of November this year. "Since Sound Leisure embraced the possibilities offered by digital technology over the last five years, manufacturing volume has increased hugely," said joint MD Chris Black. "We have been looking for suitable new premises for some time and were lucky to find this facility in Sandleas Way, despite the competition for this type

USA - More than 200 of LOUD Technologies' worldwide sales team descended on the company's headquarters in Woodinville, Wash. for a weekend of product training culminating with a celebration in honour of Mackie's 15th anniversary. UK - Skan PA Hire supplied a Digico D5 Live for Sound Techniques Group 40th anniversary corporate party hosted at Carrow Road, home of Norwich City football club. Sound Techniques staff enjoyed a three-course banquet and their view of the pitch was enhanced by music from early Sound Technologies' studio recordings courtesy of a row of white C25 speakers.

The set-up featured acts on two independent stages in a fairly narrow room. Skan's Steve Jones looked after the patch and Chris Amblin dealt with mics. By using the Digico D5 Live and Turbosound pairing, they kept the sound system very contained and discrete, whilst still achieving an even response in the room.

The second system consisted of a mixture of Turbosound speakers; flown TQs supported by 21" subs and TFM 450s for monitors controlled by XTA DP226 processing. Ant Carr operated the Digico D5 Live at front of house

UK - Currently one of the most talked-about shows in the West End, Festen has enjoyed good reviews from the critics since transferring to the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, after its successful sell-out run at the Almeida earlier in the year. This stage adaptation of the 1998 Dogma film, directed by Rufus Norris, succeeds superbly in portraying an immensely powerful script with a minimal set designed by Ian MacNeil. Using merely a dining table and double bed, MacNeil has created two symbolic environments that are automated to flow effortlessly between the two as the story unfolds and intensifies.

Stage Technologies' Maxis control system and BigTow winches enabled Tom King (the show's automation operator) to achieve the desired effects needed for this sensitive show without detracting from the intimacy of the performance. After two years as a technical operator King is using
