The Netherlands - RSB Cinemas from Wijchen is a pioneer in the concept of service cinema in the Netherlands, where personal attention and a relaxed atmosphere are of paramount importance. RSB Cinemas operates several service cinemas in the centre and south of the Netherlands. For the three halls in the newly built Cinema Roma Wijchen, RSB Cinemas chose speaker systems from Alcons.

RSB Cinemas started as a small village cinema in Wijchen near the town of Nijmegen. The service concept has now been expanded to several sites in the region such as Uden (NB) and Houten (Utrecht). The geographical expansion and constant upgrading of the rooms was mostly financed from own resources, through which a greater stability and independence can be achieved, according to the exhibitor.

"In the new Wijchen cinema the highest possible quality is pursued in every area," says branch manager Ko

USA - Two of professional audio's most respected companies have joined forces to create a standout product that is capturing imaginations and thrilling audiences. Funktion-One's F132, which features Powersoft's M-Force 10kW linear transducer, was recently deployed in the Carl Cox and Friends Arena at Ultra Miami, causing Carl Cox to proclaim its effect in combination with Vero as the "very best sonic sound experience I have ever had in that area".

The extraordinarily powerful horn-loaded bass enclosure combines each company's expertise to devastating effect. Powersoft's M-Force 10kW linear transducer supplies a huge amount of power and reliability, while Funktion-One's specially designed cone and enclosure technology results in deep, powerful low-bass frequencies.

The F132 features a single 32in driver, which gives a frequency response of 24Hz to 65Hz. Its physical size an

USA - Thrash metal, indie rock, jazz, comedy, spoken word, and more. Another Planet Entertainment (APE) does it all at Oakland Calif.'s landmark Fox Theatre, a dazzling Moorish Deco movie palace whose reincarnation as a multi-use performance space required a sound system with great flexibility and intelligibility. That's why Northern California's premier independent music promoter has installed a Meyer Sound Lyon linear sound reinforcement system in the historic, 2,800-capacity Fox.

"Intelligibility is the main thing," says Tony Leong, production manager for APE. "With the Lyon rig, we can do spoken word, heavy metal, or comedy, and the sound hits you right in your face no matter where you are. Whether you're by the back bar or in the last row of the balcony, it sounds as clear and present as it does in the front row of the orchestra. It also sounds as good at a low volume at

India - When renowned club owners Mudassar Muneer and Anand Yadav set out to build a new 500-capacity nightclub, they knew they wanted to bring the very best elements of international clubbing to Hyderabad's posh HiTechCity. With the mission of giving the city a genuinely outstanding social hub, they brought their many years of travel experience, seeking out the world's best clubbing experiences back to India.

During their research, Muneer and Yadav had been impressed by the L-Acoustics sound systems they heard, especially in the blueFROG chain's live music clubs in Mumbai and Pune, both of which were installed by Mumbai-based Munro Acoustics LLP. They asked Munro to design and install an L-Acoustics sound system at Block 22.

"The idea for Block 22 was to bring Ibiza and Vegas style chic to India, delivering a supreme aural and visual experience," says Munro specialist con

UK - Any school that counts Freddie Mercury, Peter Townshend and Ronnie Wood among its former students is clearly a fertile incubator of creativity. This imaginative spirit was on full display recently at the University of West London, where all three of the rock legends studied in the 1960s. The Student Union at the acclaimed art university, which traces its roots back to 1860, has been boosting school spirit with a lively Love Your Union campaign that features colourful outdoor gobo displays rendered by a collection of Chauvet Professional fixtures.

Kave Theatre worked with the Student Union to create this impressive pop-up architecture-meets-theatre lighting project, which was accomplished using eight Rogue RH1 Hybrids, eight COLORdash Par-Quad 18 style fixtures, eight COLORado Batten 72 Tour linear washes and eight COLORado Batten 144 Tours.

UK - Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) hit the road again for the first time in 27 years, led by singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and one of the original founding members, Jeff Lynne.

With them were nearly 100 Robe BMFLs - Spots and Blades - an integral part of the spectacular lighting rig designed by Tim Routledge.

This current phase of ELO activity all started two years ago when ELO, led by Lynne, billed as 'Jeff Lynne's ELO' played BBC Radio 2's Festival in a Day in London's Hyde Park in September 2014. The 50,000 tickets had sold out in 15 minutes and there was a huge buzz around the performance.

This was such a success that it fuelled a brand new album, Alone in the Universe, a UK and European tour plus prestigious shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

UK - The Theatres Trust has announced that booking is now open for its tenth annual conference: Conference 16: Protecting Theatres (21 June 2016, New London Theatre), a leading event in the Trust's 40th anniversary year.

In this milestone year in the history of the Trust, the conference will examine the state of our nation's theatres and discuss their future. The event will consider the past and present influences on theatre architecture and design; the provision of existing and new theatres in response to city and government devolution; changing demographics; housing delivery and community and audience demand.

The Trust will then look to the future, and the potential for the next 40 years, and ask: What kinds of theatres will we need to build, and how will we find the resources to do so? How should we be asking existing buildings to adapt and change? What impact wi

LumenRadio has announced its cooperation with LiteGear who design and build LED lighting gear for professionals in Cinema, TV, and HD Video industries.

LiteGear was the pioneer behind the popularization of flexible LED lighting for use in Cinema and TV lighting applications. Their product, LED LiteRibbon has transformed sets by allowing set and lighting designers to integrate light into places that were not previously possible.

Now LiteGear introduces the LiteDimmer Wireless DMX system which makes use of LumenRadio's CRMX - wireless dmx technology. LiteDimmer Wireless is designed as an ultra-compact LED controller system. It is comprised of a transceiver capable of transmitting or receiving DMX signal as well as several LED dimmer units.

USA - A new generation of UV LED lights is not only changing the quality of UV light projection, it's making it easier for designers and production houses to implement UV light into their projects.

Elation Professional offers two new generation UV LED lighting products - the Antari UV Spot 670 and the Antari UV Wash 2000 - each with clear advantages over traditional UV LED lights. Because they use high-quality, medical grade LEDs that emit UV light in the 365nm range, virtually no visible light is emitted from the UV Spot 670 and UV Wash 2000, meaning only the UV reactive material glows and nothing else.

"When lighting for UV you only want the projection surface to glow without seeing any mid-air light," explains Justin Jenkins, owner of Creative Production & Design, one of the first companies to take advantage of the new possibilities in UV lighting after purchasing sever

Europe - Production company Showlab has worked with rap duo Madcon - known for hits such as Glow, Don't worry and Beggin both in their native Norway and across Europe - for a number of years, supplying both crew and kit. Their European tour, which kicked off earlier in the year, took advantage of a new console set up for both Front of House and monitors, with DiGiCo S21s now residing at both positions.

"I was interested in trying something new for the 2016 Madcon tour," says FOH engineer Borre Leinebo. "I first saw the DiGiCo S21 at ProLight+Sound in 2015, and I thought that it would be a great console for Madcon. Touring everything from smaller venues to larger festivals, a console with a small footprint was what we needed. Despite its small size, the S21's two touchscreens make it really easy to figure out and navigate, and the sound quality is huge."

UK - Merlin Entertainments has chosen Illuminate Design to work with their Technical Show-AV department to carry out a range of upgrades to both the London Eye 4D Cinema Experience and Sea Life London Aquarium's new Penguin Point attraction.

The 4D Cinema Experience received new technical infrastructure throughout the pre-show area to enable the creative team to develop a more immersive experience from start to finish. A custom relay rack was developed in conjunction with David Cattrell from Eaton lighting systems that provide 48 channels of 32A DMX controlled relay switching.

Within the cinema itself, on top of the infrastructure package, Illuminate Design chose Chauvet Illuminarc Ilumipod Logic TRI-4 as house lighting, enabling the fixtures to be integrated with the video content.

The production featured the work of technical director Ola Melzig, with lighting design by Fredrik J

USA - The Indy 500 celebrated its 100th anniversary in dramatic fashion as rookie driver Alexander Rossi coasted to a victory after his car ran out of gas near the end of the race. Rossi may have been running on empty when he crossed the finish line, but there was plenty of fuel left in the tanks of the high octane lightshows that Collyns Stenzel created for the three concerts that took place in conjunction with the race.

Using a collection of COLORado fixtures from Chauvet Professional, Stenzel drenched the stage in rich bold colours on Friday for the Carb Day concert by Journey. On Saturday he reconfigured his truss, but used the same fixtures to colorize the Legend Day concert stage for Blake Shelton. On Sunday he moved to a different spot on the Indianapolis 500 grounds to light the Snake Pit EDM fest featuring Shrillex, Zeds Dead, Martin Garrix and DJ Mustard.
