USA - Built in 1971, the John Lance Arena at Pittsburg State University (PSU) in Kansas is home to the Pitt State Gorillas basketball team. The University recently received significant contributions, led by Alan and Roberta Whetzel, for renovations to the 6,500-seat capacity arena. Included in the improvements was a wall-to-wall maple hardwood floor covering the main court and two practice courts, new seating, new shooting standards and a VUE Audiotechnik sound system designed and installed by Reliant Media Systems.

The new VUE sound system in the John Lance Arena consists of four arrays and two zones of fill speakers. The two arrays that face the North and South sides of the arena each are made up of four VUE al-4 Subcompact Line Array systems and one al-4SB Flying Subwoofer System. China - The Ko Shan Theatre in Hong Kong, China has installed MIna line array loudspeakers to upgrade its long-standing Meyer Sound system. Used to discreetly support a schedule of Cantonese opera productions, the compact Mina system was chosen for the 1,031-seat theatre due to its low profile, as it was important to theatre management that the system had zero visibility.

"The Mina system has been more than just a technology upgrade - it has truly transformed our entire audio operation and system workflow," says Yeung Tsz Yung, the theatre's resident deputy technical manager. "We are very impressed, and truly appreciate the support Meyer Sound provided before, during, and after the installation."

Aesthetics proved to be one of the project's most significant challenges. "The Mina arrays are hung within cave-like concrete compartments, and concealed behind black mesh cloth-t

USA - The Ultra Music Festival keeps expanding in dazzling fashion. Now in its 18th year, the three-day multi-sensory experience of bright lights and fast beats continues to draw bigger and bigger crowds. A large share of the more than 165,000 people who jammed into Miami's Bayfront Park for the festival this year trekked over to the World Wide Stage to see EDM superstars perform under a high octane lighting rig created by Steve Lieberman of SJ Lighting.

Given the shoulder-to-shoulder density of the crowd, not every fan was lucky enough to get a direct centre stage sightline. Still everyone in the crowd got a clear and direct view of the action on stage (and on the lighting rig), thanks to an innovative design by Lieberman, which drew on sharp, clearly defined "fingers of light" from 36 Chauvet Professional Next NXT-1 moving LED fixtures.

USA - Establishing an identity with young worshippers is essential to the success of church youth conferences. While many conferences rely on colourful on site banners to accomplish this goal, Love Is Red has taken this concept a step further, putting its logo in pixel mapped lights, using the Nexus 4x4 from Chauvet Professional.

The largest Christian youth conference in the Midwest, Love is Red draws thousands of 17- to 29-year-olds from throughout the Great Lakes region for three days of worship, learning sessions, and music from noted Christian bands such as Elevation Worship, which recently reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts with Here As In Heaven. Contributing to the experience at the conference is an engaging lightshow that is anchored by an impressive centre stage logo display created with Nexus 4 x 4 LED panels from Chauvet Professional.

"On this tour, it really all starts with the music and the artist behind it," began production manager James 'Mo' Butts. "As a passionate songwriter, Cole is also a high-energy performer so we wanted to incorporate quality HD video into the tour design to heighten the experience for this headlining tour. UK - The Theatres Trust responds has responded to the Culture White Paper published by the DCMS on 23 March 2016.

Says the Trust, "We are pleased that the Culture White Paper recognises the absolute importance of the arts and culture in people's lives - in education and the economy; within local communities and internationally. Whilst the ambition of the White Paper shares much with Jennie Lee's paper of 50 years ago, in our own 40th Anniversary year we agree that the economic challenges faced today are very different.

"So we welcome initiatives to promote the role of culture in place making through the new Great Place scheme; improve access to the arts through the new Cultural Citizens programme; and support the development of the historic built environment through the establishment of new Heritage Action Zones.
