People packed into the stand right from the moment the show opened on Tuesday morning to the final hour on Friday afternoon. CT paid tribute: “We are shocked and saddened to announce that Simon Tibble, managing director of CT in Shanghai passed away suddenly earlier this week.
Simon leaves his wife Brooke and four children Samuel, Emma Jane, Jamie and Olivia. Our thoughts and sympathies are with them all.
Simon was a dedicated and unflappable character that will be sorely missed by all those to have met, worked or socialised with him over the years. Simon’s career in the event industry spanned 40 years including time in the UK and six years building CT’s Shanghai operation.”

Norway - Nidaros Cathedral recently underwent a major upgrade to its audio system, based around a Dante-enabled dLive digital mixing system, with an IP6 for daily remote control, and a DX32 expander rack to provide additional inputs for live performances.
Established in 1066, Nidaros is the world’s northernmost medieval cathedral, the largest medieval building in Scandinavia, Norway’s national sanctuary, and houses relics of the Norwegian king, St. Olav. Attracting over 400,000 tourists a year, the Cathedral also hosts a plethora of concerts and performances each month, many of which are broadcast on national television in addition to the regular daily church services.

Germany - Funktion-One has added to its extensive range of bass reflex speakers with the release of the BR132. The British loudspeaker manufacturer launched the impressive 32in unit at Prolight + Sound 2017 in Frankfurt.
The BR132, which utilises Powersoft’s high power M-Force linear transducer and M-Drive amplifier along with Funktion-One’s own cone, surround and enclosure technology, is around 40% smaller than the horn-loaded F132, which debuted at the show last year. The 32in bass reflex speaker delivers elastic bass and super-low frequency extension and is particularly effective in applications requiring deep, strong and well defined sub-bass at close range.
The BR132’s development was pushed forward by a requirement at Output in New York.

USA - The American Cancer Society recently wrapped its second annual RelayLIVE event 1 April, a music festival which advocates “fighting cancer at every stage”.
Bandit Lites donated the lighting package at no cost for the outdoor fundraiser, which featured a performances by Arts Fishing Club, Mandy McMillan, Zack Dyer, Tony Winkler, Melissa Mickelson, Ali Morgan, Tyler Jordan and David Adam Byrnes.
Leading up to the event, participants and businesses formed teams which raised both money and awareness towards eliminating cancer. This year’s effort has raised 39,000 dollars and counting towards programs for patients in Nashville including transportation to and from treatment, counselling, and the operation of Hope Lodge, a haven where patients can stay for free during the duration of their treatment.

With a wealth of renovations underway and new event spaces now available within the museum, the venue hire team are keen to ensure that the new accredited supplier list provides event organisers with an increased breadth of styles and budget options, complementary to the wide range of events booked within the Natural History Museum.

USA - First opening its doors in November of 2011 with a gala concert featuring Rod Stewart, Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center (WNPAC) is an $81m, state-of-the-art music and theatre complex at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Home to a 1,800-seat performance hall, intimate 200-seat recital hall and the University’s music department, the facility is a visually striking beacon for the arts for the communities of Midland, Odessa and beyond.

A highly competent jazz musician, Richard’s career has focused very much on professional audio – including two years as manager of Sound Control in Leeds, where he was responsible for overall performance of the large retail environment; five years in charge of the national sales team at Tascam before moving on to sales manager at Source Distribution; and most recently he was professional audio director at Production Room, the professional wing of Red Dog Music, where he headed up the UK team in branches across the UK in London, Leeds, and Edinburgh.

UK - The Cure recently completed a 76-date world tour, with lighting, video and rigging supplied by PRG XL Video. The lighting and video design was by Angus ‘Mac’ MacPhail, with creative input from lead singer and founding member of The Cure: Robert Smith.
Mac explained the creative process behind bringing the production to life, and how they dazzled the expectations of die-hard Cure fans: “It’s important to note that Robert Smith was very hands-on with the design for the show—he’s been as much a member of our creative team as he has a band member. When Robert and I first discussed the design, we wanted a very simple look, where the set is the lighting rig, and it’s a very clean, uncluttered stage.
“We started off with the idea for a curved screen at the back of the stage, added a curved riser and pulled the ends of the truss back to extenuate the curve
